Smoke being able to block IR Seekers vs not being able to block the radar seekers is something that is only going to matter about 5% of the time. Every other time the target doesnt know there is a missile coming until it actually hits them. And if you know a missile is coming you are better of getting solid cover in both cases. As the smoke wont physically block the missile and you can be killed by a lucky impact or by splash damage if its a bigger missile.
They should just add the mmW radar fire and forget mode to the Brimstone and give the Apache its Hellfire Ls.
I agree. Though I fear the Su-34 will take the lead by a considerable margin going forward and meanwhile US and Britain have by far some of the weakest helis at top tier and one of the weakesr top tier spaas in game
Maybe the fact that they are lock on after launch capable (automatic) is what they are falling away from? I mean, a heli, that can just fire 16 hell fires, without having to guide or even lock, and they do it automatically, might be a bit OP, 16 kills at a time?
Bit exaggerated I know but, same situation as Brimstones, 6KH38 is not 6 guaranteed kills never mind they need to lock.
But same with KH38, you can give it guide, it just prevents any chance of getting killed by SPAA, cause there is 0 chance the missile gets you before you duck back into cover.
With more heli counterparts I don’t see too much issue, although its real combat efficiency is what should be discussed, how effective is the lock for instance. I mean if counterparts like CM501/2 (not the 506KG) which have similar capabilities are added then I think perfectly acceptable.
Well Gaijing considered the Brimstone similar to AGm114L so I assume it also has it? IDK but there are rumours and Gaijing’s attitude towards them being the same makes me think they are very similar. The Brimstone might have difference to AGM114L in this way but see how gaijing implements it, afterall it is up to them.
It’s different, the longbow hellfires can be locked onto a specific target using the radar on the heli, which doesn’t necessarily need LoS. (Iirc)
Brimstones can just be fired and they go find some preset targets without any input of the pilot.
But like brimstones,.I’m sure there was a mode which could make use of the laser to also designate targets and then it just uses the mmV in the terminal phase.
Failing that, just give them the seeker from a spike. May be ahistorical, but better than gimping 2 nations for all eternity
