Cold war was over a long period a lot longer than ww2 and such created a lot of new tech thst is still being used today
You can do that. Doesnt mean that most people believe that.
I would assume that those coming here to play historical battles would of left after their first couple matches when they get something like Eastern Poland with Japanese tanks

Let’s face it; historical balance can’t be asked for in a purely vehicle vs vehicle game. The fact that infantry and stationary armaments aren’t a thing in game is more illogical than any historical discrepancy in the matchmaker. This is simply put the wrong game to complain about history for.
Many have left for a number of reasons. You don’t have to be on the WT or WoT forums long to see the amount of Armour fan boys(girls) around with a love and interest in Military vehicles that brings people here in the first place.
Same people who complain when they see a T34 dressed up to look like a Tiger in a film(Private Ryan) or and M60 with a German cross in a 60s war movie.
It was the reason Fury was made, the pursuit of realism.
The OPs issue, I think is more along the lines of “Isn’t it a shame we have stupid fantasy line ups instead of realistic ones?” and I would agree.I would like an era basis I just don’t see how it can be done.

Unfortunately for russia the tank turned out to be very expensive after ww2 and was not mass produced thus limiting its use in game
Luckly, there are a fair number of games that have more historical battles. No need to completely change this game when there are other games that are closer to what they want.
You cant do it in war thunder due to the insane amount of changes that would need to be done. Not to mention that they would have to remove vehicles unless they wanted them to have no use.

This will make some tanks only face downtier and others only uptier because of gaps in years of deployment. Especially in modern era where same tanks and vehicles are used for couple of years compared to ww2 where new variants were deployed yearly.

I agree. The T34 faced the M60 in Cyprus in the early 70s but it was infantry weaponry that took the M60s down not the T34.Phantom vs Mig in Vietnam and M1 vs T62 in Iraq just lead to seal clubbing. We don’t have infantry in WT so its hard to level in historical terms.
WT was historically accurate we shouldn’t forget that but it was in in the very early days and there is no going back now. Best you will get is to stick to low BR. Even then it will be China vs Germany etc
You can make your own historical games cant you so yes. I think we agree era separation it would be nice but it isn’t happening. If you were around in 2013 or whatever then OK if not then you missed the boat, sorry.
Only thing I would say is some future vehicles still fit the WW2 meta or canon to a degree to a point where somebody may not even realize they are not WW2.Like the ARL44 for example, still looks and acts like WW2 unlike the M109 which is just modern and one shotting everybody like in a game destroying manner or the super fast Italian stuff at 6.7 which gets into position with its 70s ammo long before the WW2 heavy turns up to be lolpenned.
There is nothing modern about the M109s in game, those vehicles were made closer to the start of WW2 than they are to today
Looks modern, plays modern. Complaints about it on the forum, Steam, Reddit etc .I couldn’t think of a vehicle more symbolic of the cold war period personally and they are still in use in many modern armies.
My game at 6BR has changed dramatically since these things came in, I now roll out in a WW2 heavy and Boom! I’m gone and its the M109 or the Russian equivalent they threw in.
It has altered the canon (no pun intended) and I can’t be bothered with it anymore. The fun of 5-6 BR has suddenly gone for me. I loved that BR, not anymore and not with the new BR move. Too much future spam.

It’s a clunky vehicle with no stabilizer, no laser rangefinder, no TVD. It adds nothing that we haven’t seen in BRs prior to it, it’s just newer, that’s that.
And sorry, but the M109s we see in game aren’t in service anymore, not to my knowledge at least. Yes, certain variants of it are used today, but it’s like comparing the T-54A and ZTZ-96A; they are derivative of the same hull but are quite different vehicles capability wise.
Historical MM is stupid and here’s some examples why (spread over the whole BR range and Nations):

Its 20 years later than the Tiger tank.1963.Think about that. It is also an indirect artillery piece and not even a tank. They are used in Ukraine today. Do your homework.
Trouble with BR in WT is that it does clash with history sometimes. At 6-3 6-7 BR you are a fool to take the IS 2 out as opposed to the other more modern options as in reality the Russian were giving up on the heavy tank as it was not the future in the face of fast moving vehicles with heavy armour penning ammo.
If I was playing in a WW2 scenario I might take the IS 2 to face the Tiger etc but in WT, especially with an up tier you are a fool to do so. That is the problem. WT is making much of its own line up redundant. The change in maps doesn’t help either.
If you like playing heavy tanks at a certain BR then the game has been destroyed for you.
You are underlining where the game went wrong and lost the plot. Now we have era madness and we are sadly stuck with it. It was a question of immersion but think it is is becoming destructive in other ways now.
