A Swiss sub-tree for Germany is not the right choice

That is a completely irrelevant notion considering what sub-trees are and how they are implemented in WT since the beginning…

Sorry to interject, but speaking as a third party: Gaijin has officially placed the Swiss Air Force in the German tree. The core equipment of the Swiss Army (the Leopard 2 family, Centurions, domestic tanks) has a lineage far closer to the German line than to the French line, and so-called ‘Franco-Swiss cooperation’ is mostly component-level overlap — not enough to justify assigning an entire tech tree. Splitting Switzerland into France would both contradict the established fact and violate the logic of equipment systems; in the end it would only make the French line messier, not better.

i could say the same thing to you, given that most of the vehicles concerned have german or swiss-german counterparts (e.g. Shark FL-12/20 and Shark RH-105-11). as far as the german tree is concerned, they wouldn’t be entirely missed.

and if the swiss subtree is anything like the BeNelux subtree, they’re already being screwed over by not being given an independant tree instead.

given that “how they are implemented” is arguably the cause of all the controversy surrounding subtrees, i wouldn’t really call it “irrelevant”.

fact-of-the-matter is, there are games that do “tech-trees” or “multi-nation lineups” better than WT does, even if they have different genres entirely. implementing even some of what they do would easily help allievate most of the issues the WT community usually have with the subtrees.

but until and unless such changes are considered and implemented, we’re stuck asking for (and debating over) what the “next-best thing” is.

splitting swiss vehicles by giving french-swiss vehicles to france and swiss-german vehicles to germany would not only still be within the logic of what a “tech-tree” is by definition…

…but it would certainly be a lot less “messy” than gaijin adding german tanks to France (through BeNeLux) and adding french tanks to Germany (through switzerland)…

plus, if the discourse from the official subtredit, or even other pages on this forum is anything to go by, it might even be less controversial too.

What wouldn’t fill the same brs.

They don’t have the equipment for a independent tree. That was pure cope and something with 0 future and 0 top tier tanks.

What a stupid idea. You only argue for theses Franco swiss vehicles because you don’t like Germany. You’ve made that clear. Germany doesn’t deserve X because I don’t like Germany.

You complain over turrets being exported and trialed by other nations ignoring the french wanted nothing to do with them 🤷‍♀️ plus there’s still the fl12 amx 13 you can cope for. The fl20 you can just cope more it’s irrelevant and quite funny to watch

Your fatal mistake was failing to also forbid Baguettes.

They will be taking the castle shortly.

i would counter with this Alpine ground TT proposal, on the surface : 5 branches, rank 1-through-8, + a premium branch; even if you trimmed it down to 4 + 1 branches, that’s what isreal currently has for its ground tree

(edit : even the Alpine air TT could agruably stand for itself)

i have nothing agaisnt germany, be it as a tech tree or country.
i just think french and french-adjacent tanks should be France’s tech tree while german and german-adjacent tanks should be Germany’s tech tree,
simple as.

you could say the same about the TAM, or the Desert Warrior, or the even the AMX-32 to a broader extent… they are where they are, because the tt’s country was involved in construction, or because it’s related to the rest of the tt’s vehicle developement…

…same logic in this particular case, France (FIve-Cail) built the FL-12/20 turrets, and the LPz.51 is absolutely related to the AMX-13’s developement.

I appreciate the reply, but I think there are two logical problems here.

  1. You propose: French-Swiss vehicles → France, German-Swiss vehicles → Germany. But what defines “French-Swiss”? A Swiss prototype with a French turret? A Swiss-licensed French design? A Swiss deep modification of a French airframe? Under your standard, a single vehicle with a German chassis, a French turret, and Swiss integration becomes a three-way dispute. That’s not “less messy” — that’s unbounded fragmentation by component origin. The whole point of a subtree is to keep a nation’s operated equipment coherent, not to disassemble it piece by piece.

  2. BeNeLux was added to France as a coherent subtree — the Dutch and Belgian vehicles go to France as a bloc, not split by “who made which part.” You’re arguing for the opposite: dismantling Switzerland by equipment origin . That’s a fundamentally different and far more chaotic approach. If your standard is “split by cooperation,” then by the same logic the Dutch Leopard 2s in BeNeLux should go to Germany and the Belgian F-16s to the US — which I assume you’d oppose. So why apply that standard only to Switzerland?

If you can give a single, consistently applicable criterion and explain why you apply different standards to Benelux and Switzerland, I’m happy to continue. Otherwise we’re just repeating positions, and I’ll stop taking up space.

And wheres the top tier.
There’s 0 top tier capable MBTS.
There’s 0 top tier planes. Best is like the f18 lmao
There’s 0 top tier or tbh any major helicopters.

So yea there’s no chance it could be independent.

Surely not. You’ve definitely not said multiple things here in this threat that lead other wise.

German and British exports. Same with amx32 there’s no difference they were exports/failed exports that went to the nations because they developed it.
Now where’s the development in fl12 shark… A sale of a turret? A official swiss trial hmm idk not seeming like it should be french.

Because the lpz.51 is the amx 13. Literally the swiss name

And they french can get the amx 13 105. You can get your fl12 needs. The fl20 you can just cope they were for export and the french military themselves didn’t want it.

Would have been better to add NL as German subtree. For several reasons and how its integrated RL.

instead we get Switzerland, which has not even an attack chopper, to fix the most glaring German TT gap and offends alot players cause of the French stuff in it.

There’s 1 french tank.

There is more German and British stuff then french

Then what is this thread about? Maybe there’s more @air.

The thread is cope from angry french mains because they don’t like Germany.

They had like mirage III, but just as many other planes from other nations , also germany literally has a swiss air subtt already (with one of said mirage 3s)

I see.

Didn’t even spaded it. I don’t really understand why Germany needed those. Or the F-18. Its just copypaste for the sake of copypasting. Ofc I use Eurofighters and Phantoms from the Luftwaffe. Thats my point: If copepaste is added as subtree or whatever, it should serve a purpose. Like fixing a tech tree gap.

it would mainly help with ground, air is just like a neat addition i guess, and like we have basically from what i remember almost all their toptier planes in that subTT already lmao

When I play Ger, there are like 3 things lacking:

  1. An attack chopper sporting all top tier gadgets.
  2. Rank III speed unit(s) which might scout and provide sufficient firepower for ambush kills.
  3. Top tier SPAA which might counter helicopters. Something like the Pantsir @ MAN 8x8. Saclos and enough range to kill dircm helis.

Swiss TT imho won’t fix any of these.

should be a none issue with next update

think @Leo2A6EX-live could tell you more

an issue most EU trees are facing tbh

Cope. Plus Switzerland has the adats system and a better crotale NG system.
