Proposal: Introduce camo chests available for Silver Lions to help console players enjoy more camo variety.

Many console players enjoy War Thunder just as much as those on PC, but sometimes it feels like we’re not fully included—especially when it comes to camouflages and customization. Features like the Marketplace and the Live portal aren’t available on Xbox or PlayStation, which makes it harder for console users to express themselves the same way PC players can.

While we understand this is likely due to platform restrictions, it still creates a feeling that console players aren’t as supported in terms of content variety and personalization.

A possible solution would be to add a new in-game system where players—especially on console—can unlock a variety of camouflages using Silver Lions.

🎁 Camo Chests: Rotating boxes with approved camouflages that can be opened for Silver Lions.

Here’s how it could work:

chests included Gaijin-approved camos, possibly selected from past events or creator content.
No real money or Golden Eagles required—just Silver Lions. A small chance to get rare skins or extra items like boosters or decals.
The chest content could rotate monthly to keep things fresh.

As a console player, it’s incredibly frustrating how expensive it is to open trophy chests compared to PC. On console, it costs around 700 Golden Eagles (GE) just to buy and open a single chest. Since 1,000 GE costs around $6.99 / €6.99, we’re paying nearly $5 just to open one box with a random reward — often something we don’t even want.

Meanwhile, on PC, players can use the Gaijin Marketplace to buy a key for 2.49 Gaijin Coins and a chest for as little as 0.08 GJN, totaling about 2.57 GJN. Not only is that much cheaper, but PC players can also earn Gaijin Coins by selling items, meaning they can open chests without spending any real money. Console players don’t have that option at all — we can’t trade, sell, or access the Marketplace. We’re stuck spending real money, every time.

This is a huge imbalance. Console players are locked out of a whole economy, and the result is an unfair experience across platforms.

A Fair Solution (Without Adding the Marketplace to Consoles):

If adding the full Marketplace to consoles isn’t possible, here’s a simple solution: Let console players sell their chests for points, similar to how event items work during crafting events. Those points could be used in a limited-time store to buy vehicles, keys, or other rewards — like the FX ticket system used for event vehicles.

This would give console players a fair and rewarding reason to collect chests, even if they can’t open them with a key. It also keeps everything within War Thunder’s own system, so there’s no need to build a Marketplace for consoles — just repurpose mechanics Gaijin already uses for events.

This small change would go a long way in making the game feel more balanced and respectful toward console players. We don’t want special treatment — just a system that doesn’t leave us constantly behind PC users.

This kind of system would give console players a fair and fun way to get new camouflages and feel more involved in customization, just like PC players.

final thougths

Console players really appreciate having War Thunder available, but we’d love to feel more included when it comes to personalization and skins. This suggestion is meant to offer a simple, platform-safe way to close that gap—without changing any rules or needing access to the Marketplace or Live.

We hope this idea is something Gaijin can consider in the future, so all players can enjoy a more customizable War Thunder experience—no matter what platform they play on.

Thanks for reading, and I hope others will support this too!

this are already an made post for many days ago its just pending to the suggestions i just wnat your opinions

just leave it as it is

problem with wt market is that it exists.

it should never be added to the game in the first place

I object. Thanks to its existence War Thunder is more inclusive for players who are interested in lesser known or very famous vehicles as well as collectors. But the prices are quite insane sometimes.

Wrong.

It is a cashgrab. Simple as that.

No sensible human can think that 2000 USD is fair price to buy a digital vehicle.

It is a videogame about tanks, not a stock market tycoon gamble casino.

It is a spawn of satan. It’s evil and should never exist

I do agree with your reasoning, but until the devs introduce a better alternative, this is the only realistic option besides the Battlepass Box for obtaining these interesting vehicles.

Camouflages from the Marketplace will never come at cheap price, it will always be kept behind some paid wall and for good reason: it involves real money, since it isn’t Gaijin who made said camouflages, part of the gain from each buying or selling proccess is given to their respective creators.

If Gaijin is willing to pay the user-generated content creators, this is a good idea, but it’s a free-to-play game and it’s obvious that Gaijin will try to make much money as possible. This is a purposely imbalance due Microsoft’s and Sony’s policy to ‘gamble’ and in-game markets involving any amount of money.

It’s crazy that crossout which is a game developed by Gaijin has an ingame marketplace for all platforms, yet war thunder doesn’t have that…

That $2000 number is purely sensational, and useless. It’s like describing Americans as the richest nation because Elon Musk lives there.

what they should do is bring back account transferring. I’m sick of being stuck with this stupid account while the vehicles i want to get more expensive.

What do you want to say, because you are not making any sense. Maybe it’s a language barrier? Can you explain?

Vast majority of items on the market are under 10 GJN. Why would you cite a number of $2000? This is not at all representative of the data, and makes your point weak.

Because that’s a fact.

You have E100 for 2000, IS-7 for 1700, and plenty of vehicles around 400$+

That’s just stupid

And seeing your poor attempt at defending the stock market is just pathetic - you are probably one of that guys who bought 2 camos for 0.23gjn and sold them for 0.64gjn and now you are big bussinessman.

lmao

Dont they get paid in gaijin coin?

The way of obtaining these vehickes was by getting them when they were available in events. If you missed it you missed it.

I missed the sturmtiger event because I was on holiday but I got over it. I missed the EBR-1963 because I was on pause for the game.

And I got over it. No sense crying over spillt milk.

If this richthofen122 Guy was still around, He would get quite the meltdown now. Telling you what for an evil exclusivist you were, doing tirades of how communism is needed in this Game and Community exactly due to player opinions like the one you expressed in your comment.

But He is not, and I personally just disregard the opinion in your comment because I disagree with and dislike it.

Not entirely correct, the creator only get paid for the first time a skin is acquired through a crate. Not every market transaction.
There are also other ways for the creators to get paid:

Depends, see above.
But the crate skins get paid out in GJN as far as i understand it. Those are however specifically marked as “user share” GJN and can be extracted if it’s over 500 GJN of those specifically marked ones (so they can’t get 300 from skins and then buy 200 to then take out 500).

Well you do what you like.

I have been playing this game since before the market existed and back then if you missed a vehicle you missed it. It just was how it was. Nobody complained as much as nowadays.
