20mm Insanity

With the new battle pass vehicle being the FIAT 6166 UB, I wanted to revisit the battle ratings of a plethora of 20mm rapid-fire vehicles. Frankly, they don’t make sense at all.

The new battle pass FIAT can 1-tap a T-10M from the side with its rockets.

Yeah, it’s situational, but I found that with testing it was pretty easy to guarantee a kill from the side if you spam 4-5 rockets at the target.

But the rockets aren’t that important. What I am more frustrated about is the 20mms with DM63 at 6.0.

There are a variety of vehicles with the same or very similar cannons at the mid-tiers:
FIAT 6616 UB at 6.0
U-SH 204 GK at 5.3
TPK 6.41 VPC at 5.7 (with 2 oerlikon 20mm cannons)
AMX-10P at 6.3
SUB-I-II at 5.3
R3-T20 at 6.0
Ystervark at 4.0
BTR-ZD (performs similarly with 23mm cannons) at 6.0
Weisel 1A4 at 7.3 (comes with thermals)
Luchs A2 at 7.7 (comes with thermals)
Type 87 RCV at 7.7
Marder 1A3 at 8.0 (comes with MILAN guided missiles and thermals)

Then there is the XM800T at 8.7. What differences set the XM800T apart from the rest so substantially? There are other rat tanks on the list, other vehicles with scouting and UAVs on the list. Other vehicles have significantly better secondary features such as MILANs, thermal optics, laser rangefinders, etc. etc. So what gives?

You could put the XM800T at 6.0 and I would still rather take the M18 due to it actually being able to destroy tanks and being pretty similar in mobility.

So yeah, I’m once again annoyed at how the XM800T is treated. I think at minimum it should be moved down to 7.7, and more realistically 7.0-7.3.

Trying to out do Tiger_tank_1 are you?

It’s the fastest and has a stabilizer and better ammo. Tho I do agree that the BRs of autocannon light tanks are a bit all over the place, moving the XM800T to 7.3 is ludicrous.

It’s actually not the fastest on this list and most other vehicles here have DM63, which the XM800T didnt even use.

thats because youre not looking at the full picture.

fiat 6616; unstabilized, isnt 50cal proof and is a wheeled vehicle that doesnt turn well.
u-sh; only has hvap not apds, unstabilized, isnt 50cal proof, slow turret traverse and a wheeled vehicle that doesnt turn well.
TPK; only has hvap not apds, unstabilized, is a truck and cant fire forwards
amx 10p; actually has apds, unstabilized, is a tracked vehicle so it can turn, but is kinda slow when compared to actual light tanks, just fastish at its br, is 50cal proof frontally, but not 20mm proof
sub-1-2; actually has apds, unstabilized, exposed gunner, is 50cal proof frontally, but not 20mm, and 3 of the 4 crew are shoved next to each other in the front.
r3-t20; doesnt have apds only hvap, unstabilized, isnt 50cal proof, and has the same problems the fiat 6616 has for the hull, because its the same hull.
ystervark; only has hvap, is a truck, cant fire fowards, is somewhat 50cal proof.
bosvark; isnt a 20mm but also doesnt have apds, is a truck, again, is somewhat 50cal proof, and has the turning radius of mount Rushmore
btr-zd, doesnt have apds, exposed turret crew so not 50cal proof, has tracks and is somewhat fast, but not insanely fast.
weisel, does have apds, but limited gun traverse, is somewhat 50cal proof, is more of a recon scout than an actual light tank
luchs is a worse weisel, thats bigger, and has worse thermals
type 87 rcv (p) (dont forget the p, because the type 87 rcv uses a 25mm with apfsds) is stabilized, but is the size of a barn, and moves like one, and isnt 50cal proof
marder 1a3, has apds, unstabilized, fairly weak armour that is technically 50cal proof, but still can pen if youre close enough, and 20mms will delete you, ammo in the turret, and commander that likes to die constantly controls the milan, also the milan isnt the best atgm. and is quite large and quite slow.

now the xm800t, is stabilized, has the highest rof by a large margine, is armoured to be 50cal proof, 20mm that isnt firing apds cant pen, is insanely fast even when compared to other fast vehicles, is tracked and is quite mobile and has the most gun depression of 20 degree’s and one of the highest elevations of 65 meaning you can also run as spaa, ironically the xm800t was released at 7.7, where it was busted AF like the type 87 rcv.

It will probably make WW2 tanks a pain to play. With its speed and that rocket/missile is will swarm the maps and stomp WW2’s.

The XM800T is not .50 cal proof or 20mm proof frontally within its engagement range.

I also think people massively overvalue its stabilizer.

Also the XM has no thermals at all and the ROF is not the highest “by a wide margin.” The SUB-I-II and Type 87 RCV have 1030 rpm compared to 1050rpm on the XM. Even the U-SH is hitting 996 rpm.

not really, there are some that are technically faster, but dont have the same insane hp/t to keep that speed no matter what, sure the r3 and fiat 6616 can get to their top speed at a reasonable time, but any changes will make you lose a good chunk of that speed.

the xm800t on the other hand is a small dog that got into its owner special white powder and is now lose in a cat sanctuary.

Only few tanks have cal50, just as reminder.

only a few NON american tanks. and most of those are also american.

and even then, only 1 vehicle here is american, meaning everything can and will see an american team, where 95% of the vehicles will have atleast 1 50cal, if you run into any of the t30 series of tanks, its 3 50cals.

so ya being 50cal proof is quite important, atleast frontally.

Well it was going to be much lower BR without APDS, but USA mains cried bloody murder and got the APDS added. After that earned it’s BR with its performance.

USA never used DM63. But anyway, I’m just glad Gajin added it, so XM’s BR is totally out of reach for much slower WW2 vehicles.

Sadly Gajin seems to have a heart for Italy. Its not the first italian funcar zooming around with ludicrous speed vs. slow moving WW2 vehicles. With that missile laucher it won’t even have issues to kill good 6.0’s frontally. It will get every capzone. Moves faster than WW2 turrets can track it. It will be terrible.

Even if true, you see diminishing returns with speed on these claustrophobic maps. Plus the gun still sucks for everything but killing light vehicles and giving haircuts.

its pretty much 50cal proof until ~100m… as for russian 50cals, theyre like 200-300m, its better but it even then, its only sections of the front you can pen, while the majority of the front is immune.

almost like the whole idea of the vehicle is to be heavy mg proof at combat ranges frontally.

No way, the rocket can kill a stationary tank, when you are also stationary, at the perfect distance and they arent firing back

So op!

Big Nutella realistic minion opinion

The SUB-I-II is 5.3 and is 10x better than this turd of a vehicle

Nah, I just cant wait for a bushed-up FIAT 6166 UB to camp a corner near my spawn at the start of the match and obliterate the heavy tanks coming around it.

yeah, I do think it was the right decision balance wise, I just wish they would do something similar for the rest of the autocannon spam.

I honestly think removing the rockets would be a significant buff.

Yep, after testing them in the test drive they are completely useless unless your opponent is braindead…

I’m not sure if they explode and kill your tank when hit, but it wouldnt surprise me
