Yak28B

It no longer has bombing CCIP since the very recent major update.

There is no other 9.3 bomber if we consider ‘in-game classification’, so of course it will be the fastest 9.3 bomber. :/

If we include strike aircraft and fighters, which can bomb as bombers too, it might be faster than the infamous Bucc.
But still, generally Su-7B/MK/KL or F-104C with napalm will reach base faster than Yak-28B

Yes. Yak-28B is better than Vautours after removing the air spawn of Vautours in the ‘Sons of Attila’ update.
That is why Yak-28B is stuck in 9.3BR instead of 9.0.

And Vautour bombers may be 8.3-8.7BR if we consider the interceptor variant of Vautour, which is superior and in 8.3BR.

No offence, but I think it is a blatant lie.
Yak-28B is a barely supersonic jet. Thanks to a weak fuselage and wing which can’t hold enough speed compared to counterparts supersonic fighters(MiG-21 or F-104 for example) in the same BR.

It might be faster than subsonic junks like Vautour or Buccaneer, but it can’t defend itself easily against them.

And things get even worse if we consider they get a higher match and face superior interceptors like Mirage III, T-2/F-1, J35XS.

He didn’t mention that there is a ‘supersonic aircraft with AIM-9L’ in 10.3BR

In the current status of Yak-28B, which has lost her flares. Either Su-25 with R-60M or A-10A with AIM-9L could be a death sentence.

For usage in ARB, I think Yak-28B’s only good point compared to Su-7B is ‘bombsight’, which gives you the slightest comfort.
(Bombing is an easy thing even without CCIP or bombsight, but using them is indeed easier. right?)

In every other aspect, Su-7B was better.

It seems you only think Yak28 as a bomber and only in uptiers. This thing at 9.0 in a full downtier is untouchable. Even at 9.3 there are only a few planes able to counter it.

It’s 9.3 was correct for it, it now it has chaff only 9. 0 probably would be better, but you’ll have to wait for the next BR change

Gaijin: We failed to get enough stats for balancing Yak-28B, so we will keep it in 9.3BR
(probably, if we consider the current status of Bucc S2 in ARB.)

Buc s2 is what I’m basing that on. It has 108? Large calibre CMs and is pretty quick. So when the yak28b had flares. It was about right. Now it’s probably a little lower

CCIP doesn’t matter cause it has a bomb sight.
And flares don’t matter because the lowest all-aspect supersonic platform is at 11.0 or at worst 10.7.
There are zero fighters in the game that can frag the Yak-28 at its own BR due to its climb rate. Not even the Mig-19 can deal with it.

@Stockholm_Blend
Glad we all agree that it doesn’t have CCIP.
Su-7 is slower. Haven’t tested F-104C vs Yak-28.

The fact you claim that Statshark and War Thunder itself are liars for Mig-19 and Yak-28’s climb rates is enough to ignore your post. Provide evidence that Statshark and War Thunder are wrong about Mig-19 and Yak-28 being the fastest climbers at 9.3, I’ll wait.
Unlike you I actually flew the Yak-28 getting 80,000 RP per hour back when maps were small, and that’s when the bomb couldn’t destroy a base in one sortie.

I’ll post an image of the climb rate I experience in an edit.
180m/s defense against all but a late-game Mig-19.

Spoiler

Su-25 can’t get to Yak-28 either.

wdym, YOU claimed that Yak-28B has a bombing computer…
I am telling you that it doesn’t anymore.

bombsight=/=bombing computer with CCIP

Yak-28B itself may accelerate fast, but thanks to the LOW MAXIMUM SPEED LIMIT because of the fragile wing, it is eventually gets slower than either F-104 or Su-7.

Do you really think that you were the only one who flew with Yak-28B when it was worthless enough?
I also spaded my Yak-28B when it couldn’t destroy single base at all :/

This part might be partly true, Yak-28B is faster than either Su-25 or A-10A.

What I meant was, if you blundered enough to get close, and give a clear tone.
Then you will die no matter what you do afterwards because they will just ‘click’ the missile, and there are no flares equipped in Yak-28B anymore.

You’re making this post under the assumption that

  1. The Yak-28 is able to stay at it’s top speed at all times
  2. That players (especially ones flying higher G missile carriers) are incapable of intercepting a supersonic aircraft. (it’s actually quite easy if you know where they are, and how they will approach you)
  3. That the Yak has the luxury to run away at all times.

Flares matter a lot against Aim-9Gs, Js, and similar missiles found just at or above 9.3. The Yak-28 is another case of Gaijin blatantly nerfing an aircraft only for it to not change it’s BR.

The Su-25/A-10 are not the big threats, but it’s stuff like the T-2/F-1, Harriers, Mirages, or anything with missiles better than Aim-9Es.

We also really need BR decompression around 9.3. The Mig-19s, F-100s, or F-104s are all way too good to be the same BR as the Q-5 early, Yak-28, Su-7, or the J32.

@Stockholm_Blend The website says I only mentioned CCIP in a response to someone else. A bomb sight computer is not Constantly Computed Impact Point.

Su-7 and Yak-28 are both subsonic to the bomb point.
The difference is Yak-28 can be at 3000 meters for a bomb drop which is what I’ve used with minimum fuel since it released.
Accelerate to 1050kph IAS, climb to 3000 meters, dry thrust to base, drop, climb reversal back to airfield.
I’d end up at 8000 meters and cruise to the airfield. Sometimes I’d climb to 12000 - 15000 if a Mig-19 climbed for me.
Contrails made Yak-28 safer to fly in due to getting warnings beyond 5km that you’re being followed/targeted.

I had flares uninstalled from the Yak-28 for the vast majority of my matches because flares added something like 1600+ SL to the repair cost and served no purpose.

If you find my posts annoying, I apologize. I am passionate about the bomber that exceeded premium vehicle rewards per hour when maps were small.

@Ion_492
At its top subsonic* speed at all times.
Supersonic speeds reduce climb rate significantly, there is almost never a reason to go supersonic in Yak-28 unless you’re running an endurance loadout.

AIM-9Gs are on Harriers, you just head-on those and you’re 5+km away by the time they turn around.
Su-25 has a slower climb rate to Harrier, and a shorter <1.9km range.
Climb rate protects against IR guided missiles that aren’t 9Gs, and general awareness protects against 9Gs.

I’ve played yak28b but not the su-7 but I always thought they were equals until now. Yak is slower, turns worse at high speed, only a singular poor gun meaning it doesn’t really have combat potential like the su-7, has no airbrakes and wing rips in return for having flares. It was better vs missile centered planes like harriers but worse vs the opposite like mig-21-S. I guess it was arguably quite better cause flares are so helpful but after its flare removal it’s definitely way worse. Shouldn’t go to 9.0 though. If they free some “rating space” leave it at 9.3 perhaps.

back when… try using it now, yes CCIP is a BIG nerf, the bomb sight can’t drop multiple bombs on a base at a high altitude, I don’t think you ever used bomb sights on a jet bomber. BTW Yak28Bs turn rate is non existent so anyone with an AAM that intercepts it will kill it, unless you get lucky.

Mig19, Su100, F104, F4D, Mig21, IAR-93, F86K, to name a few, most of these are found in multiple nations

A counter to the inaccuracies is to drop while coasting in a dive/ glide bombing, in the old superior that’s not the useless new wiki the devs stupidity added there were guides on how to bomb in such a way.

It was these methods that I used 90% of the times, I would of course still deal with some inaccuracies but I found it better than flying at low alts.

IIRC it was this: usually I would cut power & glide at -30° to -45° in a dive & starting at 12000 metres & dropping the bomb at around 8000 metres while bombing just before a base to account for the delay in bomb releasing (bombay doors open an still a delay) & the speeds of the aircraft.

Whenever i play it, i just rush to a base, bomb, then rtb.

You can usually do it before any enemies get within range.

All these planes are either too slow or higher than 9.0…so what are you talking about?

I didn’t use CCIP back then because holding down spacebar to see the CCIP marker didn’t allow me to do fine movements if necessary.
Also why would you drop multiple bombs? The FAB 3000 is all you need.
If you let someone on your tail you let someone on your tail…

Does the Yak-28B have airspawn?

No, because rank VI

Didnt think it did, but thought I had best check as its classed as a “jet bomber” rather than a strike aircraft like other 9.3/Rank VI aircraft like the Buc S2

all of these planes are 9.3 or under
