Yak-9 vs. Yak-9T - 1.0 BR difference?

Can someone tell me what’s the difference between them appart from the switching from an engine mounted 20mm ShVAK to the 37mm NS-37?

They have the same engine, the Yak-9T is somehow faster and turns better according to the stat card.

Still the performance difference doesn’t seem to make sense, BR wise.
It feels like the Yak-9 should probably be higher in BR while the Yak-9T lower.

The Yak-3 at 4.3 is already much better than the Yak-9T in every metric and the 37mm nowadays is just somewhat better for attacking bombers, since the damage and RoF for the 20mm ShVAK is more than enough to deal with fighters while the 37mm is practically overkill, so you don’t get any better anti-fighter performance but just some extra weight.

If I’m not mistaken there were some slight aerodynamic improvements with the 9T modification.

Maybe I’m remembering that wrong. Nevertheless the 9T is slightly faster.

They certainly moved the cockpit further in the back, to make room for the 37mm cannon.

I imagine that 37mm cannon shreds
idk
I only rank2 on russia rn

yak9T is vastly different from yak9.Although it looks like they are only one 37mm gun different. But this 37 mm gun means you can breakdown most tank in RB 4.0.And the 20 mm gun can’t breakdown most tank ,it only attack light vehicles. If you only play air battle. You might think yak9t and yak9 don’t have big difference.Even feel yak9t is weaker than yak9.But if you play land battle. you must feel yak9t’s great power.

Yak-3 is actually 4.0 if we count the premium pay2win version.

Yak-9T is not good for GRB. You have Yak-9K and ITP (M-1) for that which are both 20 times better.

And remember that now we have BR separation for Ground and Air modes. So nothing stops gajin from keeping it 4.0 in Ground while reducing it’s BR in Air
