OK, without any introduction - this is just exhausting that XP-55 has so absurdally low BR on sim battles for such long time (6+ YEARS). Really Gaijin BR 3.0 for UFO aircraft with good armament and ammo load, good top speed (628 kph), very good maneuverability and UFO features like pulling 11-12G when doing hyper-loop starting from steep dive with 700 km/h on speed indicator?
Well, you Gaijin really think that this “plane” is only “slightly” better than I-16 type 24,27,28; P-36G; N1K1 Kyofu, Yak-7B, Yak-1 (all on BR 2.7 on SIM) and many others early WWII aircrafts, which are slower, have worse armament and don’t have UFO features?
Comparing XP-55 to others in game it is clearly 3.7-4.3 material on Air SB. I will say more - if N1K1-Ja is on 5.3, this stinky machine should be on 5.3 too.
xp-55 exists in reality, but it is not the same plane as in the game, in WT it has fictional performances and weapons. Watch those videos, everything will be clear to you.
From the in-game performance it seems like they used the engine from the prototype in WT because 390MPH is about its top speed (and not 500MPH like the original proposal).
Well the video in the thread says it was supposed to have 2 20MM and 2 50 Cals but none were ever installed on the prototypes - but it would be pretty useless without any guns, don’t you think (same as the XP-50).
TBH it’s not a very strong airplane in game, it’s slow (way slower than it looks), it doesn’t carry much ammo and will get knocked out of the air if you spit on it. It’s only real advantage is it’s small so it’s hard to hit or see (for some).
If you say so… maybe I’ll pull it out and run a 2-3 (BR) lineup but I pulled it from my 3-4 lineup because I never used it. I usually play either my 3-4 lineup or my 4-5 lineups and frankly usually I fly the XP-50 (in both of those).
I’ve just flown that plane so much I know it well and I’m not in the mood to learn a new airplane (though I’ve flown almost all of the ones I’ve unlocked/purchased).
