Plus…lots of lower power modern vehicles cannot fight their contemporaries…they either fight WW2 vehicles or have to be removed. Like PT76 as one of many…
(I personally would not really mind…but not sure if all owners of such vehicles would like it)
Real issue is that some nations (Japan for instance) dont have full lineups at some BRs without them…
BUT…i am IN FAVOR of some realistic mode that replicates WW2 engagements…just not sure HOW.
By dropping the generic team death match game model for starters.
Then scale rewards to figure “in character” actions instead of just kills.
I.e. light tanks should get rewarded higher for scouting and artillery calls that make up for their inability to directly engage heavier tanks.
Awards and spawn pts could be scaled to the disproportionate weight/BR differences between vehicles. So a Sherman could spawn twice if destroyed by a Tiger etc.
It an’t hard. Just requires Gaijin to get off their butts and rework the game. Which won’t happen when the playerbase keeps coming for mindless TDM.
Honestly I’d like to see a historical mode but it would need to be something with a huge number of players on both sides on something like the EC maps where objectives are scattered all over it, attack an airfield, defend a CP, raid this supply column, so a mix of pvp and pve and vehicle type should be limited like in enlisted with a set % of a vehicle type in action on the battlefield so there would be a lot of medium/light vehicles and a handfull of hard to knock heavies on both sides.
Also I saw some comments about winrate, to me winrate is a dud stat, you are 1 out of a 16 equation, you can do good and still have a shit winrate;
Here as an example my stats in germany rank 4, notorious for the bad quality of players at that rank, you can do good and still have trash winrate.
This game needs more gamemodes and especially bigger/long matches like SIM air but for ground vehicles too…
Up the playercount per match, enable poeple to join midmatch and calculate score like in air SB for every 10-15 min slices in the match.
pretty sure he meant HEAT-FS, normal heat usually performs poorly, especially on the post-pen damage they do. Still a threat for aimed shots but nothing like APHE nuking anything.
World War mode approached this by breaking up campaigns into discrete battles using the regular game to resolve moves on the larger strategic map.
I doubt WT’s server side could handle it an actual massively multiplayer game. Besides the code not being structured for it, its uh… “not great” already in trying to handle a few square kms and 32 players.
yeah I know, still, they could if they put ressources needed for it.
The game has the vehicles and mechanics to allow it and it would be very nice unlike those arena maps where you are forced into a couple lanes with some minimal flanking opportunity.
You strongly underestimate the players stubbornness…no mode will exist if players refuse to play it.
I admit that different modes would be a good thing…and a “realistic” scenarios mode is something i would play…
But i have seen in the past that no matter how many “Shermans” you were allowed to spawn…the Tiger would have players and the Sherman would not…or worse…Sherman players would leave the game when faced against a Tiger…
(It was not Sherman and Tiger, but the idea is the same)
Several “non deathmatch” modes were tried in the past…players would eventually stop playing them…
Not saying it isn’t possible…but not as easy as you make it…
They don’t play because they are conditioned to only expect (and are rewarded for) doing random battles recursively, and the game punishes anything but that because of its emphasis on grinding down the trees.
WW mode wasn’t popular because it took you out of that. It was slow and unpredictable, which meant their grind was slowed down.
Doesn’t mean it has to be that way.
