Would you play a tank only mode? How do you feel about CAS in ground battles? [(POLL)]

Yes. You said it all.

Now that I think about it, a no-CAS mode benefits mostly Soviets & Swedes.

Depends which BR you are thinking of I suppose?
Which is a whole can of worms for whether something is needed or not.

Without CAS, Helicopters wouldn’t have a place in this game as of right now. Maybe limit planes, but Helicopters should stay in.

SPAA needs a solid re-work though. Every nation (except russia) should get an SPAA buff or the Pantsir removed.

I actually think the issue is the Helis. But only that their SP cost is too low. I can spawn in a Heli with AGMs for less than I can spawn in a undertiered CAP jet with only AAMs. It needs a re-balance. Throw in SPAA improvements and balance the additions and “CAS Being too OP” goes away.

I think helicopters are in a strange place.

CAS is desperately needed for campers. Especially since we do not have barrel collision. It is way to easy to stick your barrel into a building and use 3rd person view to trap incoming tanks. Helicopters and CAS help remove this problem.

I do think, until they solve the camping issue you cannot make CAS too expensive. Otherwise once a cap is held its game over. Those caps will always go to the fastest nation at the time. So the BMP and BTR runners will win every game.

I mainly think CAP needs to be a lot cheaper. Currently its about 500 SP, needs to be more like 350-400. Would help immensely with balance for all nations. A fully laden heli with 16x AGMs is like 530, its insane to me that they are so close together. I’d move helis up a little, but not all the way to CAS jets, like 600. Minor tweaks accross the board. Would also deal with things like game start helis

Game start Helis can only use non guided rockets. I have never seen them be an issue. So many times I see them get wrecked and just 1 death leave. Usually a benefit for our team honestly.

I’ve been killed by a few, it really depends on team comp, map. who spawned in what, etc. Though there are currently calls to have the Starstreaks removed from british helis because apparently they keep sniping SPAA from game start with them. which i think is a bit of an exageration

7km range, vs 20km SPAA? Most nations have 12KM SPAA at that point.

Yeah, thats what i said

Maybe they should be thankful the snail doesn’t know how to model Hellfires correctly and they do not have their top down or 20deg impact modes… They should have 4 fire modes. Including light angle, and a mode where they turn near vertical at impact and hit top down. They should also be thankful the Apache is missing its radome, and that the hellfires are missing the mmw radar because they should be fire and forget.

Apache has radar, but yeah they are really limited

Does it have its proper ground vehicle targeting? I have not made it that far in a tech tree as I am unwilling to buy my way up helicopters.

Thats the thread. They want its SP cost whacked up to the same as agms basically

By that logic then, shouldn’t tanks with ATGMs cost more to spawn in?

Yep. And when you consider starstreaks are our AAMs then they should also increase the SP cost of all AAMs on helis

Considering that russia and Taiwan/china get AAMs on helicopters first I believe. I don’t see this happening.

Yep… and the fact ATAS should have double the current pull as well…

I don’t even want to go into how poorly modeled the Hellfires are. They have less than half their real world features.

Hell, we can’t even boresight fire our Aim-9s. They don’t actually require target lock, you can fire and pray they get it in flight. But noo…
