Either way their reasons are pretty justified, fighting ussr is really just anti-fun in WT.
So you admit that I have a point and your dismissal was just ignorance?
Thanks.
Should I always expect this sort of reply from you when I wasn’t being agro?
What’s agro got to do with it? I said my piece, you said it wasn’t a thing, I reitterated that it was with an example, you then admit that it was…
What is this ‘expectation’ you assume you are getting? Opposition? It’s part of discussion.
Many people ODL even russians,… but they all are just stupid as the more you stand in the game the more you’re rewarded in the end.
Many people ODLing today are just basically missing to learn the “new”(some months old) economy model
I think it also stems from the frustration factors associated with Top Tier particularly. Example.
Player A spawns in - gets a first shot into a side-on T-80BVM and watched their shell just magically disappear into another dimension. T-80BVM player just rolls around and insta-blaps them in exchange. Player A rage quits and leaves.
Player B spawns in - gets blapped by T-80BVM. Respawns - then gets rocketed by the Ka-50 that is already ‘dead’ but still able to fly around shooting happily thanks to dodgy damage model. Or gets CAS’d by a Su-25 that has eaten half a dozen stingers but somehow still flies. Somehow gets enough SP to ‘just spawn a fighter’ and gets sucker-punched out of the sky by the Pantsir that is by now merrily making the map a dangerous place for anything above 100 ft in altitude.
Player A has arguably done his team a disservice by leaving at the first instance of being screwed by not being on the USSR team. However arguably player B hasn’t really managed to achieve much much aside from losing more repair bills and getting progressively pee’d off in the process.
TLDR - inbalance creates more incentive to ODL and less incentive to stick with a battle. If USSR as a top-tier nation WASN’T as whacked out as it currently is it is a safe bet you’d get less people rage-quitting after one death on non-USSR teams.
Do you have any empirical evidence to support this theory?
Being that every player check that you do, updates the stats for that player, and whenever you do a query, it’s pulling that data, the only real data it’s going to get is from people querying themselves or those that got them.
It actually states on the data you see on there that it’s updated when you check it, and it even has the last time that data was pulled…
It’s only on query that it pulls, I don’t see it pulling all the match data off the servers reliably.
(Edit - And I wouldn’t be surprised if thunderskill is actually having trouble with the ‘demand’ for thier data and that this could be a reason why the site is cripplingly slow.)
Not quite what I meant, I was replying to your theory about ODL based on nation doomerism, but anyways, what do you mean by that, is there a metric which I could use to gauge that it isn’t pulling all of the data?
Oh, that…
The fact that whenever you see ODLs complaining they usually are that easy to list all of thier reasons in the main update channel on the regular.
Mainly because I can’t find any way to verify this, and also I can’t find a reliable way to figure out the reasons for ODL, which nations have more players that ODL, I get the point you’re trying to make, but I can’t accept that as a conclusion without at least some basis, might make a poll on it, but the last one I did had a whopping sample size of 18 forum users last I checked.
As for the other point, I went back to the WT data project, if you sort by total number of battles, it doesn’t seem like those numbers would be immediately inaccurate.
Yea, polls don’t show jack here, and even nor do threads being ‘engaged’ mean that you’re getting any basis or any sort of scope.
What would be needed is actual staff/dev to try and work with a group who do that site and other statkeeping to highlight the things the site and others are trying to highlight for the good of the game and discussion.
We need better stats, and reliable queries on it.
I’m all for WT publishing their data collected by their BR determining algorithm system specifically.
But at the same time, I think a total of over 600,000 matches in a day at 1 single br bracket is a good enough sample size for me to start interpreting it without basing my interpretations on a false, or bad faith argument.
The issue with any engagement on the forum is that anyone takes it as a personal offence to even put out another situation or point, as displayed by my mere mentioning of ODLs being a thing…
Here I was thinking you were asking why I don’t trust the site that’s scraping thunderskill.
To which I’d also be concerned that the site itself can’t handle the queries from this site and it’s killing thunderskill.
I get the concerns about that, but even so, with the data it is able to grab, I think I have enough of a sample size in order to look at the bigger picture here, yes, it would be a lot nicer if we had the complete image of all battles, we don’t although somehow I don’t think it would look very different from the heatmap provided since the sample size for the top tier bracket for Ground RB alone is over 600,000 battles.
I could go into personal ancedotes about specific shots missing or certain vehicles killing me, but those are worthless and prone to being laden with insane takes (A la somebody outside of these forums arguing with me that the Challenger 2 is superior to the T-80BVM, used as justification for why RU needs anti-spall to be buffed.)
But I will see this, I have noticed that the matchmaker itself supports some of the claims that Russia is the strongest and most popular nation at top tier to a point where it’s an issue for gameplay. There are not an infrequent number of matches where Russia or Russia and 1 China player are faced against the rest of the world and win the match in under 5 minutes.
I’m not going to say Russia is some kind of undefeatable god that cannot be touched by anything anyone else has to offer, but I would like to draw the conclusion that they could have some of their equipment rebalanced in a way that keeps them viable while ensuring they don’t have a noticable advantage against the rest of the world.
Edited for Spelling
But you’re not seeing the ODLs in that, that come from that, and cause that…
…
… yourself…
The way that Russia are dominating, makes people leave matches because of them facing them. People keep on saying it, and it makes people think that it’s pointless more.
It’s commonly why I get peeved at people in matches breaking to all chat and complaining in the chat because they show that they are tilted and upset, so therefore destabilized and on the backfoot.
Also, the only thing that I can 100% verify here as a factor is the vehicles, it is inarguable that each nation has different vehicles. Player skill wouldn’t line up with these results, as USA, Germany, and Russia on average have lower statistics in most areas of the game, following the trend that more players in a nation equals less skill on average, but if skill were the factor, Italy, GB, Isreal, and Sweden should have much higher Winrates, and I highly doubt that suddenly after a certain point, Russian players become amazing while increasing in numbers.
The only thing I can 100% put this on is the vehicles.
Also, I can’t verify this, in fact, I don’t see that any nations has more ODLs than any other. And if I can’t verify it, then I won’t try to argue it.
I doubt there’s many ODL Russian or Chinese because they aren’t dying enough to make them have to respawn, or play a second vehicle.
