Would bringing back repair costs fix the unskilled player problem?

Remember the B-29 repair costs too?! 😣 It was even absurd in Arcade! Was something like 30k-40k SL’s, I can’t remember exactly but it was craaaaaaaazy high 💸

EDIT!: found info, spreadsheet at bottom. Repair for B-29 was 59,000 SL’s in Air Realistic!!! LOL!

[Deleted Reddit link as it was redundant with the full info from spreadsheet link at bottom]

And AI says it was ~53k SL’s at some point. The article that it links to was from 2019: [News] Bomber repair costs and bombing reward adjustment - News - War Thunder

OH! Was able to get the spreadsheet from the Wayback machine:

Your post is meaningless, pal.

In your theory

The base bombing problem is infamous and endemic in the community.
So we need to get rid of the elephant in the room called [base]
Then… will it fix the unskilled bomber problem?

The answer is NO.

Just like that, punishing everyone by reverting repair costs will not be any kind of solution for unskilled players.

Hell no, get out of here with that. I’m not paying 15k SL again for dying as soon as I get out of spawn. We should not regress to the previous SL economy that was absolutely awful and made every inch of progress a slog.

Garbage maps where you always playing down tiered to opponents and you offer to add repair cost ? its better to remove crew penalty after you leave from the battle then to add new restrictions…

I’m only talking about removing free repairs. There is a mechanism that prevents repaire cost from pilling up if you spawn and got spawnkilled.

SBMM makes sure you get to play with people slightly better than you so you can improve at a decent rate while keeping the matchup rather fair. Currently, total beginners can end up going against people with years of experience and from such a large skill difference you’re bound to learn less, as that new guy will get absolutely curb stomped.

Those systems are what makes most of those games fun to play, as it introduces a form of balancing into your every match. Not a coincidence that biggest PvP games also use SBMM.

The beauty of the non boolean world.

You can support both “braindead” and “difficult” decisions at once.

I can support, for example, making base bombing easier to increase the rewards and reduce the risk for newer players, but also remove free repair cost to compensate for increased in ease of doing a task.

Which should be applicable for people bringing bombs into ARB then, not your proposed method of collective punishment lmfao, what a cretin

I was giving an example

Yeah, let’s give gaijin another idea to make ftp players suffer more

That does not affect f2p players.

Premium players will not lose SL because they can’t, but average/bad F2P players will lose so much SL if your idea is implemented.

I see where you coming from, but it still pulls away a lot of your silver lions, especially when your unlucky. Sometimes I just get killed back to back by planes, without being able to do anything and I just lose a lot of SL for repair costs.

I also think some of you are underestimating that bad players are frequently food and pad out your K/D ratio and SL income.
I’m not good at this game. I’m actually pretty bad at it. But it’s fun and my stats are improving.
I’d like to see your stats if every fight was fair lol.

Yeah it might fix you firebombing bases in fighters

Alternative solution, make the 4v4 air and ground RB tournament modes permanent ranked modes in game.

Now you’re matched with players much closer to your skill and gaijin gets the bonus of more attention (and money) from the competitive scene.

Try Hards kill a game faster than they will ever build one.

If you want to play competitively, I highly recommend SQRB. Those are like-minded individuals and teams that are looking not just to compete and unlock the next vehicle, but win.

Please leave RB and AB alone for those who would like to enjoy the game. Nothing would kill the joy faster than having to work harder for less.

You are literally arguing the same points that Gaijin was that caused a community outcry so big it forced Gaijin to back down and capitulate to the players.

The argument was bad then, and it’s bad now.

You absolutely deserve the ratio you are getting lol

No, bringing back repair costs is a terrible idea.
