The idea of a ground-based nuclear thunder mode has generated interest for some time, and I’d like to know your opinion. Do you think this mode would be as successful as the aerial nuclear thunder mode? Do you think it could be a good mode? Please comment.
Initial idea: a ground-based mode but with the same functionalities as an aerial nuclear thunder mode. It would have an undefined respawn time and, most of the time, depend on more relevant actions to achieve victory, such as using a nuke, as well as protecting the base against spawn camping, for example, using AI-controlled turrets/bunkers and a larger number of players per match.
a ground EC mode would be neat. but it does require there to be no nukes.

I’m not sure if this would work well at all
A return of the World War mode would probably be a much simpler option
It could be something that relies more on destroying spawn points with smaller nuclear bombs until the enemy runs out of spawn points, or air bases that are further away.

The nukes would likely be aimed at supply depots and whatnot over direct ground engagement
Why involve nukes at all?
you know that a 5KT nuke (smallest weve seen in game) would vapourise a massive chunk of even the largest ground maps in WT right?
just for reference, second largest circle on this nukemap is where fatal overpressure is possible
nukes are simply too big even if ground had stupid massive maps unless you gave them really impotent yields where they are no longer worth more than a few small precise bomb drops

Again, if nukes were to be used, there would be dedicated drop points that are off-battlefield (eg. A supply depot 10-15km behind enemy lines
Therefore, conventional bombs may be the best option.
Devalues the killstreak feeling of a nuke, tactical yields would be fine
what stops people just nuking tanks?
and if they cant, why would they give a toss about what is basically an unskippable cutscene you can die during?

Perhaps something like this: off-map points to be destroyed with nukes and spawn bases to be destroyed by conventional weapons, but in large numbers.
The inverse of the ‘fly to battlefield to activate fuse’ mechanic
“fly away from where the action is”
that sounds shite to play

I thought this was supposed to be a ground mode

I mean i don’t think killstreak style CAS should be allowed for a ground EC mode, as it would ruin the potentially ‘Tank only mode’ people have been begging for since the dawn of time, i am firmly against bringing the GRB Cas meta into a potential new mode…
But the off map objectives to bombs with your spawnpoint reward jet would be fine

Not the point though is it, ‘nuke thunder’ sells because of the spectacle of fighting around mushroom clouds, it’s cool and still provides a strategic objective while not impeding on the gameplay for ground only guys
If you want to drop bombs on tanks, ground rb will exist forever as it’s gaijin’s main source of income
If you involve planes that are required to destroy objectives, you also have to involve planes to defend against the attacking planes
Nuclear thunder ground mode with infantry as a main unit and other vehicles being unlocked with “escalation” levels.
They will start with infantry, helicopters and ifvs/apcs. Then they will unlock tanks and spaas, then they will unlock planes.
A wide front with AI defences and convoys should be used, APCs/IFVs/Helicopters should be able to carry infantry players. anti-air and anti-tank munitions should be unlocked on the first level of escalation, so before that both helicopters and infantry will have just guns and dumb rockets.
And planes will be used to finish the game, by levelling enemy’s defences.
why are you nuking london bro as we can see from this photo tho nuke yeild in game is too small
