Work-In-Progress: Regenerative Steering — Should We Add It? Try It & Leave Your Feedback!

If someone would like to do some further regenerative steering testing then this method still works on the Live server!

Yes please, idc if it can be toggled or not, it seems low speed/stationary mobility is mostly the same anyway. Type 10 can finally move while steering.

+1, Yes for Regenerative Steering

The biggest problem with top MBT gameplay is their hamstrung mobility. Leopard 2s, M1s, Challengers, and tanks like them play like glorified heavy tanks (with none of the survivability that entails) that force you to commit to one position to fight from instead of allowing you to use the biggest advantage they have over older tanks, which is their tactical mobility and their ability to relocate and cover ground quickly. Almost all tanks after early ranks will benefit from this change, and there is all the time to adjust it and change parameters to improve the driveability of specific tanks that underperform. As modern tanks are now, they are worse to drive than tanks of previous generations. If you absolutely need to make a tight turn, slow down.

To the type of player that believes that making top tier tanks more driveable and faster to play is a bad thing, you always have the option to not play top tier.

How dare you suggest I let go of the “W” key!
They do need to tweak the auto transmission down-shift though, from the testing I did with it it seems like it down-shifts at the bottom of the speed range for the gear rather then the top, so it’s basically it’s one gear to high while slowing down (which also means it’s probably also decelerating slower then it should when you back off the power)

This community is truly amazing sometimes…
Community: “Western tanks never get any buffs, Russian bias is real”
Gaijin: “how about a massive mobility buff that almost exclusively affects western tanks?”
Community: “NOOOOO!!!”
Also Community: “seriously, western vehicle never get anything… stupid Russian bias company”

Did it make it to live?

no, but I believe it’s just being refined more, not canceled.
EDIT:
Found this post from Stona_WT:

so defiantly still WIP.

I vote : Absolutely no. I promise no one will use it even in big maps

Like how nobody plays wheeled vehicles?

From testing it on dev I’d say regenerative steering feels a lot like wheeled vehicles already do. And those are considered very popular especially for their mobility. It’s a massive upgrade for many vehicles and at worst a sidegrade even in the worst cases.

How so? If you don’t already know, Gaijin’s official implementation was flawed and they’ve since stated they will continue refining it. If you take a look in this thread you will see users testing various vehicles with custom settings that more closely replicate the real vehicle handling, and most if not all of them are vast improvements over live server. Just because a vehicle has regenerative steering doesn’t mean it can’t do corners.

Make it on/off the same way you guys did with the aircraft AOA.

AOA switch: realistic and can be on or off for some aircraft
Armor: “realistic” but cannot be turned on or off
Regenerative Steering: realistic, but cannot be turned on or off
AOA switch and Regenerative Steering are not the same mechanism.
And once people learn how to use it, it will definitely benefit a majority of tanks that use it. Hell, I might even struggle to use it at first, but that doesn’t mean I’m not willing to learn.

I think British mains will absolutely beg to differ.

Atp I’m pretty sure you’re just baiting since evidently there are way more ppl who genuinely approves of it, but go off king.

Honestly, I don’t understand what ‘majority’ you’re talking about, when even that specific group of players who are actually interested in this mechanic can’t reach a consensus on how it should look at release. Some argue it should be realistic (meaning most tanks would have a 30m turning radius), others say it should be simplified with a tighter turning radius, and a third group believes this mechanic should be toggled by a separate keybind.

wow, a lie, how unexpected

So, Джахед, how is your World of Tanks playthrough going, what other feature you want to delete in WT “because there is no such feature in WoT”, as you said about tank gearboxes in general?
