Can I turn off weakspots on my armor, pls, I understand that they are made according to real values, I just want an option for no justified reason. Just because WT is known for being able to toggle physical characteristics of vehicles just because you want it.
Holy strawman
People play this game for how it plays/feels and not for how the things it simplifies work irl.
Playability (which includes controls and the core parts of the gameplay, such as movement and thus steering) always goes before realism, if you want it the other way around, then you can go play proper sim-games.
I agree, thats why I proclaim wheeled vehicle steering limitations unplayable and demand a toggle to be able to steer any wheeled vehicle on spot, without radiuses and etc.
Regenerative steering is not only way more realistic but also MUCH better for playability too so it’s a win-win situation
Thats entirely subjective, many people, me included, prefer the current system.
The top comments all being “okay cool, let me turn it off” should bring you to that conclusion rather quickly.
Opposing a toggle on the basis of ‘muh realism’ and ‘I want it so those that dont are wrong’ is peak forums moment.
At this rate, i am not even sure if i want them to even persue this mechanic any further if this continues to be the basis in which any discussion is held as the result is already getting predictable.
It’s objectively better in almost every situation though, your tank is much more mobile when one of the tracks is not braking constantly. The only thing you would lose is the ability to make sharp 180 degree turns at high speeds. But even that might not be true for every tank.
Also the current version had some very annoying bugs.
Of course this is only true if Gaijin implements it properly (not like the Leo 2s) and doesn’t view it as another tool to buff and nerf certain tanks as they wish.
I never opposed a toggle though. In fact I also want a toggle so people can see with their own eyes that regen steering is better
The core issue with the “objectively better” part is that you cannot determine this with any certainty based on the current implementation whatsoever.
There are too many flaws which, if fixed, would reduce the mobility you experience currently.
Stuff like speed/momentum-retention during turns, especially on sloped terrain is drastically overtuned currently.
On the contrary, friction/resistence during turns is virtually non-existent, resulting in an overall much higher speed-retention than there should be.
If anything, a final version will most likely be closer to what wheeled vehicles feel like (plus neutral steer ig), which also lose speed during turns but not nearly as much as tracked ones do currently, yet retain a worse turn-radius (still better than current double-diff. steering).
It would be pretty hard to make it worse than the current handling no matter how overtuned it is currently lol Because right now your tank literally stops after making 2 turns. So any speed higher than zero is an improvement.
But it doesn’t make any sense to talk about what-ifs, currently the most important thing is to make Gaijin fix the bugs, improve regen steering for each tank based on their real gear ratios and then do another test. In it’s current form it was basically an Alpha version.
And then when it’s finished I wouldn’t mind making it toggleable for those who want to stumble around with the current abomination
I disagree, if the bugs get fixed it would be better. No more suddenly accelerating mid turn.
You misunderstood what I said; “worse” as in “you don’t move as quickly anymore”, not “worse” as in “worse implementation”
Oh my god it’s gonna be horrible the reg steering is not nearly finished
There is no way they are adding regen steering in this update. The blog was a Work-in-progress one, not a “proper” devblog.
Though it would be on brand for Gaijin to just release it without any kind of adjustment or fixes lol
Or worse; never again bring it up and leave the concept to die.
Saying: “ah, but see, when we released the test there wasn’t unanimous agreement to add it as it was, sooooo”
It’s really annoying they haven’t said anything… The post on their website also got locked pretty fast so I really don’t know what’s happening.
It will be way better regardless than one small turn losing all speed.
