Please look at this: The problem is NOT regenerative steering itself, but the way automatic transmission works ingame.
It sounds to me like they also worded it to sound as horrible as they could on purpose.
“Please vote no, so we don’t have to put effort into the game”
I dont care other nations nerf them and buff USSR.
Fully support adding this if the auto-shifting is improved alongside the implementation in general, so many tanks lose out because of clutch steering but this does need work, it deserves to get that work and not just be dropped.
Then if it manages to be added without messing up maybe we can look at that APHE test again…in my dreams at least.
It could also cause problems that for example the Leo 2A6 has 8 forward gears in-game but in real life it only has 4. So it kinda feels like Gaijin would have to redo the entire transmission system or at least adjust it heavily.
Hello, @Stona_WT !
Some people have pointed out a few issues regarding low speed turning radius; this user here may have found a key to improve Regenerative Steering to such a degree that it will maintain its advantages while not being as detrimental to street/city driving, all while remaining realistic and accurate!
The current consensus is that Regenerative Steering will be a great addition if it’s further improved and polished; I personally prefer it even in its current iteration, but even I acknowledge that there’s room for improvement.
The following posts will be of help:
I would like to ask Gaijin whether it is possible to provide a large amount of GE and LL to test server players, in order to allow them to quickly obtain fully equipped top-tier vehicles, making it easier to test the vehicles on the test server. This will not have any impact on the live server, correct?
lol they wont give it to u
in city maps this is a lott disavantage… have keybind to turn off???
Look at this, is this really the handling model some want to keep? It’s hilariously bad and for what, so you can make a 180 degree turn quicker? I did not use brakes in the video, it was simply pressing A and D.
First video is what we have now
Second video is the regenerative steering
Imagine how easily you would be dodging shots with regenerative steering lol
ou literally spent several minutes avoiding sharp turns just so you wouldn’t show the mechanic in a bad light.
Sorry spanAv was DRIVING COMPETENTLY
A comparison of maneuvering with/without Regenerative Steering: in both Type 10 and Leopard 2’s cases, the driver arrives at their destination MUCH quicker WITH regenerative steering.

This is why we have been sabre rattling for it’s addition for years.
It’s far worse in much chunkier vehicles like a challenger, heavily kitted out older MBT or even light tank with slightly too much braking force and jelly soft suspension.
Back when the FV107 was added it physically couldn’t keep any speed after a turn, it’s much better now but bloody hopeless at retaining speed, even though it’s the fastest production tank ever made, double diff steer will at least it almost have that rightful crown from the overperforming XM800T as it will keep speed after a turn
THESE VIDEOS right here are ALL anyone on this planet should be able to see to FULLY support the implementation of Regenerative Steering.
No because time to location isnt the only thing that matters in game
I noticed there are two threads now for some reason so I’m going to copy-paste my post here too if it’s not a problem
I also think that the problem at the moment is how the automatic transmission works and not the Regenerative Steering itself. These videos were made with Manual transmission
Once Gaijin adjusts the auto transmission logic, the gear ratios or even the turning radius for each gear it should work properly without having to use manual.
I have to say though that regenerative steering feels a lot smoother than the previous handling model even in it’s current state
I agree with this setup, we could add a key binding so players can use it more flexibly.
@Stona_WT sorry for pinging you again, but observe, THIS post right here, contains the largest consensus and solution to the still potential issues related to the mechanic!
With this polished, it will all be PERFECT.
Yes, the issue in the first video has annoyed me for years, sometimes (all the time?) tanks just bog down completely because of this brake assisted turn system or whatever it is lol
if only a bug reporting website existed, would be cool if they made one
