I personly would like to see it i mean you cann stile use the old system when you wand when you use in controlss the brake left/right buttons/axis so i would love to see it on live server for vehicles ther have that
This is just my personal opinion, but I really love the mechanical design of tank steering systems, so I’d like to see them added to the game in as realistic a way as possible.
im against this feature too but this just isnt true coming from someone who drives daily.
It looks like you sent this message to the wrong person by mistake
Short Feedback: I love the regenerative Steering, it should be implemented but must be refined further. It will make the battles less dynamic but drastically improve the realism and make tanks feel like the steel behemoths they are.
Detailed Feedback: As regenerative steering is right now it lacks some refinement, Starting from a standstill and turning by pressing W + A gets you into 4th gear very fast and increases your turning radius massively. Using the manual gearbox mode and staying in 2nd or 3rd gear alows for tighter turns but using manual gearbox all the time is not trivial. The tiger for example has 2 different turning radii per gear (Tigerfibel, Page 41) that could just slightly be altered by adjusting the RPM.
A compromise would be to make the automatic gearbox stay in the same gear as long as there is a steering input. BUT the Gears should be adjustet to the number the real tanks have. IIRC Tiger has 8 fwd and 4 rev, Leopard I and II have 4 fwd and 2 rev, T-90 has 7 fwd and 1 rev etc. Most tanks weren’t even able to de-clutch one track to do a (kind of) pivot turn).
I’m not a fan of “everyone choses their mode”. Either keep the As-Is-Steering to Arcade and regen steering to realistic/sim or make the tanks behave as they do now up to 20 kph for fine movement in the city and regenerative above that speed for better high speed control.
If you implement it, it will have a great effect on the way tanks behave and would make the movement characteristics unice for every tank, so it should be introduced for all vehicles at once and not one-by-one over time
I would have loved this in Tank foodball, the drifting M551 was a real nightmare :D
Please look at this: The problem is NOT regenerative steering itself, but the way automatic transmission works ingame.
It sounds to me like they also worded it to sound as horrible as they could on purpose.
“Please vote no, so we don’t have to put effort into the game”
I dont care other nations nerf them and buff USSR.
Fully support adding this if the auto-shifting is improved alongside the implementation in general, so many tanks lose out because of clutch steering but this does need work, it deserves to get that work and not just be dropped.
Then if it manages to be added without messing up maybe we can look at that APHE test again…in my dreams at least.
It could also cause problems that for example the Leo 2A6 has 8 forward gears in-game but in real life it only has 4. So it kinda feels like Gaijin would have to redo the entire transmission system or at least adjust it heavily.
Hello, @Stona_WT !
Some people have pointed out a few issues regarding low speed turning radius; this user here may have found a key to improve Regenerative Steering to such a degree that it will maintain its advantages while not being as detrimental to street/city driving, all while remaining realistic and accurate!
The current consensus is that Regenerative Steering will be a great addition if it’s further improved and polished; I personally prefer it even in its current iteration, but even I acknowledge that there’s room for improvement.
The following posts will be of help:
I would like to ask Gaijin whether it is possible to provide a large amount of GE and LL to test server players, in order to allow them to quickly obtain fully equipped top-tier vehicles, making it easier to test the vehicles on the test server. This will not have any impact on the live server, correct?
lol they wont give it to u
in city maps this is a lott disavantage… have keybind to turn off???
Look at this, is this really the handling model some want to keep? It’s hilariously bad and for what, so you can make a 180 degree turn quicker? I did not use brakes in the video, it was simply pressing A and D.
First video is what we have now
Second video is the regenerative steering
Imagine how easily you would be dodging shots with regenerative steering lol
ou literally spent several minutes avoiding sharp turns just so you wouldn’t show the mechanic in a bad light.
Sorry spanAv was DRIVING COMPETENTLY
A comparison of maneuvering with/without Regenerative Steering: in both Type 10 and Leopard 2’s cases, the driver arrives at their destination MUCH quicker WITH regenerative steering.

This is why we have been sabre rattling for it’s addition for years.
It’s far worse in much chunkier vehicles like a challenger, heavily kitted out older MBT or even light tank with slightly too much braking force and jelly soft suspension.
Back when the FV107 was added it physically couldn’t keep any speed after a turn, it’s much better now but bloody hopeless at retaining speed, even though it’s the fastest production tank ever made, double diff steer will at least it almost have that rightful crown from the overperforming XM800T as it will keep speed after a turn
THESE VIDEOS right here are ALL anyone on this planet should be able to see to FULLY support the implementation of Regenerative Steering.
No because time to location isnt the only thing that matters in game
