With the AIM-120A confirmed* will we be getting the R-27EA/EM?

If I recall correctly. Yes and no. Whilst obviously, yes the faster you drop, the better range you have. (but I think it was just fine dropped from sub-sonic platform and not badly nerfed by it) The SHar FA2’s IRL tactic was to sit higher. Between the powerhouse that was the Blue Vixen and the overall effeciency of the aircraft. It could outrange most targets despite being subsonic (Average alt for FA2 was 30k ft, Tornado F3 was more like 20k ft)

I do also hope they balance on both flight performance, number of weapons and missile performance.

FA2 is going to be tricky to place. with 2 to 4 AMRAAM (though in most scenarios, probably only 2) and then being sub-sonic… It could need to be lower than most other AMRAAM carriers, but also cant be too low either. 11.3 is currently unplayable with the current set of 12s/12.3s. Dont really want to make it worse with ARH as well.

That being said, I do question how good they actually will be. SARH are far less deadly than they should be.

Well then it’s not confirmed to be specifically this update,… therefore adding assumptions will lure players that doesn’t know about thinking it should be there.

→ hype and deception,… try to manage that aswell as a player.

That’s my only point,…

The question can be a good one,… if context is false, nothing will come out of it.

I recall the word from the Russian stream was ‘in the first two major updates of the year’ or something to that effect. But I don’t speak Russian and didn’t watch the stream so this is entirely word of mouth.

Yeah, I remember that from somewhere, not sure where though and CBA to watch the entire stream again to find it, stumbled accross that reference pretty quickly.

For the vehicles own good, it could do with receiving shittier AMRAAM’s and not getting the C variants so it can keep a low br.

Aim-120B might be all it had.

Britain acquired Aim-120Cs in 2006 as part of the Tornado F3 AOP upgrade (I think)

Sea Harrier FA2 was retired in 2006

So I think there is an on-going discussion in the SHAR thread about whether or not the FA2 was:

  • Ever trialed with Aim-120Cs
  • Was compatible with Aim-120Cs
  • Should it get them even without clear evidence

Please learn to read. I didn’t say next patch. I said next patch or later

Fair enough then. Works out for the SHar as there’s no possibility of it being DOA like the Hunter F.6 is from having high potential missiles and a less than competitive airframe.

Yep, though… Britain Tax. Small part of me is waiting for the SHAR FA2 to be at 12.7 vs F-15C MSIPs, Su-27 (later variant, cant remember its name) , etc etc because AMRAAM.

Even though the main loadouts will be;

2x Aim-9M, 2x Aim-120Bs. 2x BOL
4x Aim-120Bs, 2x BOL
4x Aim-9M, 2x Aim-120Bs (or alteratively, probably what i’ll run: 3x Aim-9M, 2x Aim-120B and 1x BOL)

and no guns for any of those loadout options.

R-77 & R-77-1 will be balanced to AIM-120B & C and others.

The R77 is a lot closer to the AIM-120A/B. The R27EA is between the R77 and R77-1. The R27ER outranges the early amraams and the EA is just an ER with an active seeker.

R-27EM is SARH with RGS-31 seeker. Canceled in 91.

No? The R-27EM is an ARH

No. R-27EM is a SARH

No. Its an IR seeker.

:P

Looks like ARH (or kinda both?):

R-27EM is part of the Su-33 armament and is used against Tomahawk and Harpoon anti-ship cruise missiles at a minimum altitude of 3m above the water surface. It is equipped with the ARGSN with a two-stage guidance system - inertial with radiocorrection with transition to active radar homing on the final flight section. Range of fire at the ZPS - 170 km, at the PPS - 110 km.

So… Where does it say its SARH?
