(WIP) Modern IR (FOX2) Missile - History, Performance & Discussion

i think the IRCCM on both the r-73 and r-27t are underperforming for balancing already

and you still have ppl saying it is too strong

I doubt they would actually add that though, because it would only be the MICA IR iirc and unless they want to keep the Rafale as an OP broken aircraft, it would be stupidly unfair if everyone else could be defeated but MICA IR you had to both flare the seeker and notch the AESA radar

Nah it’s not just mica, 9x blk 2 and r74m2 also have datalink, would be crazy OP tho as u said so they might not model that

Yeah, Im doubting it. As it is, I think they might make a hard requirement for LOBL just to mitigate HOBS performance and range greatly.

Supposed Mirage 2000-5F shooting a R550 Magic at a drone, thats quite a hard pull

50gs dual plane will do that

this might be a preview of ASRAAM pull, as they’re very similar in weight and G pull is said to be the same 50G, may ASRAAM pull a little more, since Magic’s motor is stronger (at least in WT)

r-73 min rad 200-250m

Possibly. Only minor issue with ASRAAM is that its built around speed, not agility.

The faster something is, the larger the turning radius. Missile like IRIS-T and MICA are snails off the rails in comparison

This isnt an issue when used more like a short range BVR missile which is how its meant to be used. But that ultra close shots, might be tricky.

Though with clear shot… No one has the reaction times needed to defend against a short range ASRAAM.

Just you wait after MICA gets adjusted to have higher accel, but lower burn time.

Still a snail compared to ASRAAM

Mica delta v is above 1000m/s. Unsure about asraam, but for mica that is almost Mach 3 from a stand still

Comparing mica’s to normal fox 2s is not really fair. It’s closer to r27et than it is to asraam.

R74m2 has just inertial launch no?

So IRIS-T 100-125m.
Thats a damn tight turn

Radio correction = datalink

I honestly doubt iris-t is going to have a 100m turning radius, that statement that said iris t turning rad is like the size of a plum compared to r73 was likely exaggerating and is just a marketing term

Unironically yes that is probably marketing lie, they didn’t release any specifics just made a unreasonable analogy

It’s not… i thought this debate was finished aha, 1000m/s from stand still (account for gravity too) would require a deltaV of closer to 1250m/s, which isnt possible given the limited space for electronics, control, sensor and warhead.
