So that will probably not be modeled in game (that insane search acquisition) lol. Would probably lead to a lot of team kills. But aam5(b) certainly seems to be on par or better than most gen 5 missiles (mica ir ng just blows everything out of the water). Also I would assume this all applies to the f15 because f2 doesn’t get a hmd. Is aam5 ever gonna be exported?
TBF, the F-2 might have ways of aiming outside of your FoV that don’t rely on HMD. Datalinking targeting positions is something mentioned a few times across various F-2 related researches, both as something to be added and as an existing system.
And nah, japan doesn’t really export stuff.
Any chance of them integrating the aam5b into their f35s, or because they’re getting 9x blk 2 that’s never happening?
F-35 has to carry IR missiles externally anyways so the size of the missile bay isn’t a concern
With that in mind I don’t see why Japan would use the 9x instead of the AAM5
The size of the weapons bay was never a hard limit factor. Contrary to what lockheed martin has publicly said, their chief of operations has confirmed that there is technically internal space for the mounting of the AAM-4, assuming the pylon was adjusted (although the J/ARG-1 would have some space concerns).
The real issue preventing domestic JP missiles on the F-35 is simply that the US is very close minded about foreign operators overwriting their FCS systems. They didn’t even give japan permission to install them on the F-15J in the first place, and they’re not looking like they will on the JSI either.
Because you need to integrate it and it takes ages with the US, see meteor or spear or asraam with UK which is a tier 1 partner.
And lockheed has already enough problems with everything going bad with the f-35.
So they will most likely take they loose and use 9x.
Both the AAM-5 and AAM-5B can be controlled as slaves via HMD. Furthermore, the seeker gimbal is 3-axis for the AAM-5 and 2-axis for the AAM-5B.
Surely you mean the opposite as that would be a downgrade
I genuinely think they are deliberately stalling
Please refer to a)1). The missile name is listed in c)1).
The change to a two-axis system was made because it achieved the same performance.
要約
AAM-5
AAM-5B
its not out of the ordinary for the US to force things into whats most profitable for them
Huh, where did you get that? I only have P1102 CP-Y-0115F for the -5, not the one for the -5B?
This is a compilation created by volunteers who requested information disclosure and organized it on Google Drive. I’ll refrain from posting the link, though.
Incidentally, the AAM-5 specifications should also state that it can be slaved via HMD.
軍事情報アーカイブ? I’ve looked through it a few times, it’s where I got my documents on the AAM-5 from, I never found any documents on the -5B though.
It’s on that drive.
