Idk if this is some schizo thought or something, but I feel like the effect that wing damage has is way too high at the moment, or at least on certain vehicles.
I can be in a Hunter, with the wing tip very slightly yellow and it can feel like there is no wing at all with how much lift is lost on that side (or so the game says)
Yeah, the damage model on some planes has some really weird lift loss multipliers. On the Be-6, a single half-inch hole will cause the plane to go into an UNRECOVERABLE assymetrical drag.
The wings are just made up of a few large pieces, this magnifies damage, they need to be sub-divided into more parts, not just the length of the wing but also along its width, that way it would be possible to sustain damage to the wing without loosing it entirely
They should all be made of the same size pieces. Total wing size should then influence the number of these pieces. Like for example 1m of length equals one section. Really wide wings also get more sections width wise.
Yeah, that would be the ideal way of doing it, but the most Id hope for is things to be divided into small, medium and large and each size to get a different number of parts
tbh that would be a complete overhall on every aircraft damage model
given that divided sections would require alot of work put into to draw outline for x/z section, code them to do different dmg when hit
even if they just do modern aircraft it would be a complete overhall and require alot, and really alot of work
i imagine gaijin wouldnt do this, like ever
Its not just the wing damage. Dogfights are too fast paced in general. Not exactly as we see it in guncam vids or even movies. Ingame you get a kill with just very short bursts, as long as its cal50 / 20mm and higher.
took them a while to make the sead mission and gun only mode
this probably gonna be a special event mode where it last 3 days then dissapear until 2027 where they release a new playtest game mode and it would die because no one care about bombers
Well making it strips of areas would make some sense since holes still create some turbulence and locally break lift behind them. But those strips shouldn’t all be worth the same amount of lift obviously
