gaijin removed the existing 105tiger ii ,panther ii ,flakpanther ,etc from the german tech tree stating that it is not historical!
since then there were no interesting ww2 vehicles added to the german tech tree
though it is fun to play the existing vehicles its kinda boring
we are totally fine with the historically accurised tiger iis
so could the devs workforward in adding new ww2 vehicles or re add the removed ones
I absolutely agree, WW2/mid tier gets left behind almost entirely just because it isn’t as profitable as another 80 dollar top tier jet. I’m SO suprised we still don’t have stuff like the Hummel and Wespe for Germany, allong with so many other interesting WW2 stuff. Really hope the interwar/WW2 era gets some more love in the future.
Aside from whatever vehicles get copy pasted from America, like the upcoming M55, I doubt it. Modern premiums simply bring in more money than WW2 vehicles.
Because they’re not historical:
Panther II never recieved it’s Turret (and even less a turret in which you have to Bend the ammo to reload your gun)
KT105 never existed outside of a handmade proposal drawn onto a tissue.
Flakpanther (Coelian) - never seen it’s Turret, the only prototype was in “Wood” and wasn’t functionnal (no real gun installed, no traverse drive)
the only one that is, somewhat historical, was impossible to balance : MAUS
Hummel is a Nashorn with howitzer 150mm Gun
The Gun is made for Indirect fire at 9.75km and up to 13.25km
Firing a 43kg Shell
Wespe got similar design than Hummel (but from Panzer II chassis), with a 105mm Howitzer Gun, firing 15kg shells, to a range up to 11km.
→ in WT, we have maps as big as 2x2km to 4x4km, and rarely fights on the biggests
→ Both Platforms can’t aim under their own horizon → difficult to aim right at the ennemy in most War Thunder encounters, which is mostly based on 100-500m range gun fights
Both could be made for the Diversity, but both would be extremely limited within the game.
I agree with your first point, not sure what you mean after that. Yes, those vehicles were designed for indirect fire, but we have quite a number of those already in the game. The vehicles I mentioned just look really fun to play, not to mention so many other WW2 era vehicles we could still get.
Man I wonder what Switzerland could bring to Germany, I hope someone makes a video covering it 👀
SOMEONE should do that… huh…?
Interesting concept.
both of which are capable of doing Direct fire (from 0m) too - Not the case for HUMMEL and WESPE
I was unable to find any specific numbers in a quick search about the gun depression of those vehicles, but there are plenty of pictures from both vehicles showing the gun completely level. So they’d have AT LEAST 0 degrees gun depression, meaning they would be able to shoot things right in front of them in most scenarios.
i hope Gajin add
panther II 75mm was build
Actual Panther II was build
and gajin could also add this
or cute leopard 1 was build
most of these tanks i listed could be good event tanks they are very rare tanks and only 1 built of each
guess i was wrong about the Wespe:
“The main weapon had an elevation of -5° to +42° and a traverse of 20° in both directions (or 17°, depending on the source)”
but i got nothing on the Hummel - the Nashorn having -5/20° but changing 88mm for 105mm might give it some trouble → need further checks.
Maybe find actual pictures of the tanks instead of drawings.
The hummel has many pictures of the gun being level. So worst case the range would be like 100-200m at the worst. Which is perfectly usable.
There have been some ww2 content since then, give or take they’ve had the same level of attention other original 5 nations have had. Proto panther first that comes to mind, a couple spaa and a light vehicle or 2.
panther II but with panther G turret
A wooden mock up of the Waffenträger they could add the lighter VK not the leopard because leopard seems only 1 wood mockup was build very limited sources
last image it’s just tiger II P he hull was build but hard to find images without books
The panther 2 with the G turret is only assembled in the museum. The original panther 2 had no turret at all.
The other 2 are fine.
Not so different from the maus and e100 they put in the game
Slightly on a tangent due to country but…
Why no Sexton for the UK tech tree?
Uses the 25-pounder which has both indirect & direct fire.
The e100 is a completely different thing to the maus though. The maus was conpletelly built and tested. The e100 only had the hull. I am not against the panther 2 and the coelian as such. It’s just the panther 2 with the G turret is not what was planned. At least the coelian had a wooden mockup turret.
