Will the typhoon be getting Meteor missiles in the next major update?

Then that would be more than fine too, finally we could finish this generation of missiles at that point before moving onto next-gen IR.

The commonly cited figures are ~100km on the C-5 and ~120km on the C-7. But those are very iffy.

The only other 4th gen that are getting 120D are all weaker than EFT in current state and EFT would also get them if it becomes weaker than those 4th gen. If Gripen E got them then them then that would make it alot better than EFT

Better in some ways, very much worse than others. There is a case to be made that ECRS is the better radar.

Then why was there such an outcry by players to remove 100m multipath and why was the argument centered around how irrelevant it made radar missiles and BvR tactics?

Ahh

Because we were in IR meta at this point. Grippen was grippin’ every soviet (and everyone else’s) throat and giving it a good spin. Tbh an outcry about multipath was pretty in the middle - it had a lot of people on either side, myself being against the nerf because it was obvious that it would make the game much less fun. Anyway here you go - tag display range was reduced, grippen nerfed to the ground, multipath reduced, in simple words everyting cathered towards a “beer slinger” gameplay that can be performed with one hand. Which saddens me to this very day and is the reason why I stopped playing ARB. BvR is boring and for reaction-challenged people and SARH being a situational missile is absolutely normal. It’s my rock and I’m gonna build a church here.
IR meta is still the period in which I had the most fun in this game and I didn’t even play Grippy’)

Multipathing defined the meta to such an extent that a lot of players very much did not like it and very much did complain about it to get it reduced.

I was also one of the people saying the change would ultimately be dogwater garbage, and be garbage in sim. Ultimately I was largely right. The players that thought the only thing holding them back in sim was that BvR is irrelevant have largely quit the game. And the predominant meta in sim is for players to mainly pick utterly flat maps and attempt to multipath on them.

My compromise position on adding meteor to the game is…sure…add it. Then let’s increase multipathing mechanics to 150m.

But in that situation it’s not so much about meta then it is about balancing missiles and missile platform between each other. It was already confirmed that the AIM-120D that were getting is the baseline model, which means only better lofting, flight pathing and battery life but no actual increase in energy since the booster is essentially the same.

Making the Multipath altitude higher wouldn’t change the deep gap that there is in performance between a baseline AIM-120D and a meteor. Even more when the said meteor is mounted on an EFT or a rafale with better kinematics than any other US made airframes (bar the F-15EX). This topic is useless and dumb in any case. The EFT would still probably be better than any US made jet even with the addition of the AIM-120D.

I doubt it was a majority though. But I may be forgetting something.
Also forgot, almost every spawn in ARB is in the air right now (if not all of them). What is this if not BVR cathering. It’s just silly.

Yup.

That’s actually a pretty good idea. I also think it would happen to some extent when 5th gens would be added and everyone would realize that game couldn’t get even more boring and annoying to play. Especially with advanced missiles.
EW might help the situation a little, but ultimately would make gameplay just more annoying.

Way to go brother. I even rewatched my old gameplay vids from just before everything went to… how it is right now. I mean was I good? No. Did I have fun? Hell yea.

In game we have no guarantee of better flight performance, just

  • An extra 30s of battery life (120s → 150s)
  • The addition of GNSS (more accurate IOG)
  • The removal of firing limits in HOBS

I genuinely hope Gaijin does improve the lofting and pull of the AIM-120D. But seeing how they treated the AIM-120C-5, I highly doubt they will bother.

If typhoons get meteors, then Other nations will also get their counter parts for meteor and then we’re back to square one with everyone being equal

That’s pretty much my point, what brings the AIM-120D is only a tiny bit of better energy management and max range but not actual deltaV upgrade or major NEZ enhancement . The Meteor would just be a complete overkill of an addition in response to that.

In that case you’re just comparing the incomparable. The meteor isn’t an AIM-120D (not D-3, which was already denied) equivalent. It’s barely an upgrade over the C-5/7 and will only bring some minor enhancement to the NEZ of US made AMRAAM platforms. The EFT will still be better, it’s not a missile with 30s more battery life, better lofting and flight pathing that will change that. Both the radar suite and kinematics of all EFTs will ensure that. You’re just being vindictive and delusional.

Things aren’t equal.

Typhoon NEEDS

  • BOL buffed to triple/quadruple current effectiveness. IR countermeasure should be more effective than large caliber flares. Chaff should be as effective as large caliber chaff.

  • Aerodynamics Modification Kit that hasn’t gone in service yet. This should increase the in-game AoA from around 50 degrees to around 75 degrees. It’s turn rate should also increase by an additional 20-25% over the current in game values.

  • ASRAAM in order to have equal HOBS capability to Russian airplanes.

  • ECRS (radar that isn’t even in service) is artificially NERFED because it doesn’t function as a jamming station.

  • Brimstone NEEDS fire and forget capabilities. Adding SPICE 250 IR was not nearly enough!

  • AMRAAM needs to have realistic notch resistance and realistic countermeasure resistance. Notching should have a less than 25 percent success rate against AMRAAM when coupled with legacy countermeasures.

  • Typhoon needs advanced countermeasures in addition to buffed BOL. Towed radar decoy should mean that notch gates do not apply to Typhoon. Also ECRS jamming should also make notch gates not apply to Typhoon.

  • IR Missiles need to be modeled accurately. Aim-9M seeker is unusable. Next generation IR missiles like ASRAAM need to be GUARANTEED kill on anything with conventional countermeasures.

Only once all of these changes are implemented and Russian equipment nerfed to its REALISTIC performance will Morvran boot up the Typhoon in SUPER IMMERSION MODE.

Im not sure what the difference to a aim 120 c5 is but i think the eurofighters can still get the aim 120 c7

In-game the AIM-120C-5 is the same as AIM-120C-7, no point.

The version bought by the different consortium members is the C8, and even this is the same kinematically. They are only different in their electronics that only are supposed to improve track and ECCM. In game, it would be literally the same. But again, a new/better missile isn’t needed for ANY typhoon atm.

A lot of this would be too op compared to what Russia has… all of these are nerfs gaijin chose on purpose just like the brimstone. This game focuses on balance not realism
