Will Russia ever be able to climb and not mudsuck at modern BRs?

I think there’s a lot of truth in that USSR fighters at top tier are underpowered/unrealistic. There’s plenty of soft nerfs - limitations imposed by the flight instructor, drag baby drag, R77 instead of the production R77-1 (which is more or less on par with the 120), grid fin transsonic drag being left unmodeled, radar sweeping being slow and taking 2-3 sweeps to return a target, DL channel limitations (though lets be honest, no one is even using DL for the R77 due to range limitations). And when you go to ground, sure Russia has some good ATGMs, but lacks the other ingredients that some of the planes could receive that other nations have, namely thermal pods.

I agree, the top - down shots are deadily, and something russian top tier jets just have to contend with. What I can’t wrap my head around is, while the SU27SM is gimped in every aspect, why can’t it’s FM at least be realistic? It barely will even make use of it in ARB BVR gameplay, so can it even be called a balancing factor?

I just can’t even be bothered with the arguments of Russian bias anymore. It really comes down to KH38 and Pantsir, while all the downsides of the USSR tree are blatantly ignored.

I’ve been trying to play around with full real controls in ARB and its just really annoying. There no keybind to swap between mouse aim and full real, so you have to cycle through all the control schemes to get to the one you want then again to back out instead of just in and out.

Secondly you can’t use the simplified joystick, because it has built in limitations that are so severe an aileron roll is impossible with it, which means you use standard, which is inverted comapred to mouse aim controls. And of course just like the annoying toggle and no keybind, we can only turn on invert Y axis for ALL control schemes at once and not for each.

All that headache just to get the most out of your plane when they could just have a “turn off instructor” keybind, you wouldnt even need to leave mouse aim.

Read my stats card.

I can’t feel any change to the time before AMRAAMs.

But same talk again, the reason for that is not the difference in plane performance, the reason for that is the “rush in” tactic fits US planes better. And my experience is, if my russian team let them rush into empty water, we win. If they rush in too, we loose.
This problem is all over the place in ARB. And it becomes worse.

Problem will persist till we get ARB EC, or at least multi spawn game modes for realistic.

Do people only remember the current meta, before the fox 3 update the R27er was the best bvr missile in the game even better than the aim 54. i swear after years of having the best brv missile in the game Russian players get outranged once and forget they had the advantage for like 2 years strait.

If you read the thread I did cover that, and you forget we had 100m multipath during that era. Russia has been in the position since f14 was released (2+ years). Yes missile for missile its better than the pheonix, but you aren’t climbing into f14 spam (ARB isn’t 1v1 like DCS or sim can be) and keeping your SARH/nose pointed at a plane without eating an ARH even if its a giant brick like the aim54. If you go into a notch or dive to defend you lose all your offensive capability. ARH launchers don’t have this problem.

well for 1 going vs f14 in my su27 was always an easy 1v1 cause even if the phoenix was fox 3 the r27er would get there so much sooner that it didn’t really matter you could aslo notch loose lock then re-lock with the r27er something no other sarh could do at the time so iv never found climbing in the su27 to be even a little hard in fact the meta was f15s and f16s sticking to the deck and hoping for the best anyway since f14 spam wasn’t really a thing at top tier to begin with.

100M multipathing negated all SARHs so it wasn’t the same.

yes i know its not the same but the point of the post was saying ru jets were not able to climb at modern era for the past 2 years im just saying thats not the case since they in fact had the best bvr missile in the game at the time

If the 27er is faster than the aim 54, how exactly are you going to notch the pheonix and then relock? Is it going to do a 180 and go back for the target? Maybe there is something I don’t get here, by the time the pheonix passes you, your r27 has to be past the f14 you fired at if you launched at similar times. You would have to purposely get launched on, know who did it, and then fire sometime after, notch, require the target you initially fired at. That’s some REALLY exceptional gameplay. Like on the tier of telling players they have to utilize full real controls and do what Ace Viper is doing to play their plane.

i hardly see any aim54s because the fakour completely mogged them to another realm since introduction, which does in fact hit sooner than r27er

whether you notch then re-lock or just hold the lock till impact then notch after depends on who fired first its just 2 different methods for 2 different launch situations. and its easy to know at high alt cause con trails and the long missile trail on the aim54 made it very easy to track in bvr.

kinda talking about the past 2 years not the current meta cause yeah no shit nothing can outrange that thing.

what if he fires 2 of them spaced apart?

well then its a bvr back and forth they just used 2 missiles to counter 1. you can just turn away and let the missile die then fire again later.

just don’t climb . . .

You clearly do no know how or when to use what was the most dominant and oppressive missile in the game the R-27ER…did you even know that you can hit people 3 meters off the ground by shutting off your radar and letting its IOG do the work something that sparrows couldnt do ( except some left out of game because they where considered to OP by someone’s logic…so sorry mig and suk fanboys have to do something other than fly straight to targets and kill them nowadays…be happy that you will get to enjoy shooting down helpless Nighthawks soon

This reads like a shitpost on /wtg/

The infamous stealth launch and IOG finisher, I clearly am not good enough to play russian jets without mastering such techniques. Hopefully they move the su27 and mig 29 up next decompression to account for this.

Lol 12.7 is to high for su-27??? Only your mother or girlfriend should hold your hand sukboys and migfanboys need gaijins too…

Even if you do understand, the Flanker/29SMT are not capable of effectively doing BVR.
