Why wasn't this kill credited?

In my MD450 I hit an La-200 with air target belts at 1.1km, I get a crit that shears off his wing tip and damages at least one engine system causing black smoke. He then just speeds off in a straight line until he reaches the edge of the map, while I’m tabbed I hear the target selector disappear, kill feed says he crashed but with no kill credit.

I’m writing this in-game as I fly back to base so I could be wrong about the wing damage, but 99% I’m not.

Doesn’t his plane get “written off” for flying off the edge with critical damage? Are you sure you didn’t get kill credit? Perhaps you got the “Severely damaged aircraft counts as kill” thing?

Definitely didn’t get any kill credit, killfeed showed that he crashed and I had no pop-up, haven’t checked recently but fairly sure the scoreboard shows 0 kills instead of the 0+1 or 1
