It has equal IRCCM to the Magic II or R-73, just has to be countered differently.
It has 100% identical stats to an Aim-9L, even down to the same lock ranges which are wrong. Lock ranges should be far higher than the Aim-9L

9M is always superior in my experience. R73 only kills you if you don’t know how to preflare at close range, magic 2 is also BS but much lower range.
If you are pre-flaring an Aim-9M then the flare rejection wont even let you lock on, let alone fire.
really delayed response but, I have questions and conerns if Gaijin takes the path of M1097 and SLAMRAAMs.
While SLAMRAAMS have 25km max range, I feel like Gaijin would intentionally have awful locking given the history of IR lock range we currently have, just look at stingers.
M1097 also needs external radar vehicles unless Gaijin goes the route of pitbulling. Which honestly, I don’t expect pitbulling to be that good but thats just my opinion.
Yeah same. There is IRL and then there is in-game which will be way worse
I feel like the best route for US SPAA would be the addition of HVSD/ADAMS (And Israel of course) since it was a joint project.
M1097 requires external radar, which we (Gaijin) hasn’t crossed that bridge yet.
Barak-1 Missiles are at least reasonable when compared to stuff like CAMM/IRIS-T/Python-5
I am not comparing the missiles directly in some sort of wank off in close range… I am saying the R73 is pitifully easy to flare outside of 1km and within it you jsut need to preflare
and Aim-9M is very easy to defeat at any range, you just need the right technique and pre-flaring prevents you from even firing an Aim-9M at any range.
Only time I would take Aim-9M over R-73/Magic II is in a situation where I can reliably ambush someone unaware in aircraft that can set-up such shots. Like in the Gripen or F3. Though even in the Gripen, I would take Magic IIs or R-73s for their strength in a dogfight
Yeah nah I think you’re just off here
The more modern HML variant exists, and has a sensor mast of some kind
Im still waiting for Aim-9M to get some major buffs, like much better lock ranges and better flare rejection.

I haven’t been able to find any information regarding that.
Until there is sources on what the sensor mask does, HML needs external radar vehicle to fire unless your pitbulling.
Its quite small compared to other vehicles that have sensor masks, others provide at the minimum of E/O Tracking, such as EMADS.
same thing i saya bout people who whine about the f14s
With the exception of stuff like the J35XS that had no RWR at all or things like the Su-22? with barely any CMs. I agree entirely.
Aim-54s were rather easy to defeat.
Don’t all of them have the ability to fire aim9x?
SLAMRAAM can be fired in boresight visual mode where it doesn’t need an extrnal radar where it instead uses the missiles internal radar to lock onto the first object it sees.
Well it’s really not that difficult because ground search and air search radar is can detect the stealth aircraft from significant distances
lol.
Sometimes, under some circumstances, some radars can detect them at extended ranges.
It can also send you on a wild goose chase, and is far from the sure thing you’re making it out to be.
Just ignore him. He doesn’t wanna know how to counter the Aim-9M, he just wants to cry “Aim-9M OP!!!” and hope Gajin solves his skill issue for him.
Yeah, he’s like the guy who wanted F14s removed from the game because he couldn’t play his tornado WTD61 by flying in perfectly straight lines to bases and bomb them without being shot down
