If the target is turning slightly. Good luck hitting it past about 7km. If the radar even locks on at 10km. Rarely it does. And due to the dominance of soviet CAS, you can’t even use your radar because you just advertise that you are a free kill
2S6 can still get dunked pretty easily by FnF missiles from ranges it can’t really effectively target aircraft.
If the plane enters 4km range then it’s a pretty good AA.
2s6 is better against low flying supersonic aircraft with the guns and direct fire missiles osa better against longer range targets that fire missiles towards battlefield from range and altitude
A A-10 9.5km just see my missile and go down just before my missile destroy him .
Yup. That’s why I don’t sit in spawn with it, I’m typically up front using whatever cover is available on the map. You’ve got those 30mm to (try) destroy any vehicle that tries to sneak up on you.
I don’t think anyone here is debating Osa vs 2S6. 2S6 is better overall.
Surprised no one has mentioned USSRs actual most common SPAA at 10.3 :p
We are talking about missile SPAA here, not gun based ones. 2S6 guns are a addition to the talk
Same goes for 2S6 but from past 5km.
You need radar guidance only for planes that are turning but from those ranges, as you said, you aren’t hitting it anyways.
If someone is afk, you don’t really need the help of the radar guidance to hit.
quite the flight time for your missile to reach them. i usually wait until they come closer, unless if theyre preparing to launch a maverick. then ill fire, either my missile kills the a-10 or if they start going low i redirect the missile to the maverick and shoot it down instead
That’s what I’m trying to say.
2S6 is worse than Osa for longer ranges, regardless of the maximum range stated on the stat card.
they both have their own roles in matches yes
OSA has a bonus feature for me. I like to look at the radar spin.
And, well
yep i want to wait but 90% of the time the use maverick.
At the end of the day, I would rather the enemy air come closer to the battlefield than to be sitting in an oversized SPAA that can only fire missiles. 2S6 can help cap, kill enemy ground units, it’s just a better life. Hence, any topic that only discusses what missile is better is not to be taken too seriously. Not to mention, that many of my air kills in the 2S6 are with the 30mm that are flying at tree height level that would be gone before the OSA’s missiles even have time to react.
Don’t even get me started on my dislike for the TOR-M1…
If that is the case then why dont the 2S6 have issue with hitting me when I’m evading has hard as I can with CM spam at 8-10km distance and 10k ft alt and climbing.
If what you say is true, I should never be killed. I literally side skirt climb 15km from the battlefield until I’m above 20k ft otherwise i will die.
Sounds like you’re wasting some CM. Are you trying to break lock?
yeah broke the tail of a m-24 and only have the assit because some tank shot with is 12.7mm that great .
Yep, if you are in a notch and you drop chaff, it will at least shake the lock a little. OFC if it is not in TV/IR
The OSA is vastly superior to the trash Rolands at the same BR, missiles outrange everything for 10.3 and it can shoot down helicopters/jets pretty reliably on a head on, the proxy fuze on the 9M33M3 is massive and has a lot of explosive filler so it’s a guaranteed one shot.
Not to mention the Rolands can barely pull what feels 6g, bleed all their speed on the slightest turn and lose all control after 3km while 9M33M3 can pull its full 24G for its entire travel time.
Have you by any chance been going 100km/h when that happened ?
Strike drones can dodge it’s missile at those ranges, I’ve literally seen it happen.
From what you’ve been writing some might think 2S6 is stronger than Pantsir.
Yeah I know what he is trying to do, but with thermals - I don’t even need a lock a lot of the time in 2S6. Just visual aim and get the missile within proxi range. I often find locking to be quite optional.
