Why NATO IFVs autocannons are so BAD?

I’m not interested in arguing about this. It’s the same tired “just aim at the weak spots, bro” argument people use to hand-wave the armor discrepancy between Soviet tanks and their NATO counterparts.

Riddle me this: why is it that a 40 mm can penetrate an Abrams head-on, but when facing a Soviet vehicle at a perfect 90-degree angle, I’m still expected to pixel-hunt for weak spots?

If you can hit the turret ring on an M1 you can hit the suspension on a Russian MBT jesus christ what even was that trying to prove

Yeah…

Soviet mains: “no no, this soviet vehicle cant go up in BR, it lacks the necessary firepower to lolpen anywhere”

Everyone else: “So aim for the weakspots then?”

Soviet mains: “no, that isnt how balance works”

Looks at soviet vehicles

Unless its hulldown or headon and disabling the turret on the BMPT if that is all you can see, is an absolute chore. Ive done it maybe once with an L27A1

“Why can’t I pen Soviet vehicles from the side with an autocannon? It’s so hard with all the ERA”

“You can, pretty easily actually; just shoot here, it bypasses all the ERA”

“F🤬🤬🤬 SOVIET MAINS”

“???”

Russian bias, that’s why

Ridiculous

Is that why 12.7 ends in 2-3 minutes with collapsed team/enemies in your spawn unless you play Russia?

That’s crazy

At the risk of sounding rude, I must say that you come across as rather dense.

Allow me to spell it out. I don’t find myself looking for weak spots in side armor when facing any nation other than Russia. The Challengers, which trade mobility for additional protection in the form of add-on ERA/NERA blocks, don’t have the luxury of being invulnerable to 40mm darts, just to give one example.

I’m not a military expert, nor am I particularly interested in the real-world performance of weapons and protection systems. That said, the drastic in-game discrepancy between Soviet ERA and its NATO equivalents has always felt like a stretch, to say the least.

This.

The bias is OBVIOUS

No that is actually because of people like you who cry bias as soon as a Russian tank dares to makes a kill or you get Gaijined and then leave.

Russian bias doesn’t exist

See, it’s reasonably for YOU to have to shoot weakspots and carefully aim. It’s not okay for them to have to do so. Because you know, depending on the situation, terrain, etc. Hitting those weak spots at times isn’t even really possible. Especially on a moving tank.

When you compare the tanks they think are reasonable match ups you’ll notice it’s always tanks they can lolpen virtually anywhere, while those tanks have to aim against them. Even “bigger” weakspots buy you time, and reaction and firing speed absolutely matters.

When Russia goes up several percentage points after some change in WR it’s solely due to skill. While any other nation who doesn’t perform well especially after nerfs and changes is just “bad players”.

“But you understand, we go slower by 10km/h and have less gun depression, we have to be able to point and click any NATO MBT, it’s called balance lol skill issue git gud just aim at the weakspots bro”

“Less gun depression, except over the sides, and the back, and it’s only minimal at the front at higher tiers too and maps where gun depression matters usually work in a way to screw everyone equally…”

Yep, that sounds about right.

“B-but you have to have good gun depression and reverse speed in teeny tiny urban maps where we rush you in corners and end the game in less than 45 seconds”
