In the settings in the hangar you can choose what flag to display on the country selection bar, why cant i select the ROC/Taiwan flag for China?

My post is probs gonna be removed, but it’s simple. China is a massive percentage of the paychecks that Gaijin gets. As such, because China doesn’t really see Taiwan as a sovereign nation gaijin caters to them and then says they won’t add it “for political reasons”

Damn, how hard is it to make a patch that depending on your location dosen’t give you the option?

Because Gaijin does not recognize Taiwan (ROC) as independent but a part of the PRC.
Funny enough, they do not even recognize the history of China, being ROC since 1912 and then PRC in 1949 after the civil war.

Since 1912 ROC was the goverment of both mainland China and the province of Taiwan (which its also part of China), then after the civil war the PRC goverment drove back the ROC goverment to the Taiwan island, and they stayed there under US protection. Both goverments acknowledge Taiwan its part of China, but they do not agree in which goverment rules the whole China (both mainland and taiwan island). But historically, ROC its older than PRC, and ROC did not sign any surrender to the PRC goverment because of US protection.
I would say this conflict its similar to the South/North Korea or West/East Germany (before unification).
Yep it pisses me off. Very insulting to anyone who is proud of their Taiwanese heritage & culture

There are confusions with Army/ Party/ National flags so that change is technically a correction?
My mistake, forgot that China after the first sino-japanese war gave away Taiwan in the Treaty of Shimonoseki. Still that doesnt change ROC was first goverment than PRC.
The Gaijin reason is that the ROC flag in game was originally the ROC’s Army Flag, therefore they removed it for parity when they removed other army/naval flags.
After that, they haven’t explained why it hasn’t made its return* as a national flag, despite ROC vehicles being in the tree.

I think they shall add it proper airforce flag since they add the ground force flag for Air as well…
Just looked it up, the Nationalists (Predecessors to Taiwanese) did most of the conventional fighting and suffered 3 million casualties against the Japanese.
This one will never not be funny because for Germany they use a miliary flag not just as an option but as the definitive “main” techtree flag.

And it’s not even censorship either, considering both the national flag and this one historically had the same amount of swastikas, in game just replaced by a Balkenkreuz showing that they are perfectly capable of swapping it out.
