Why isen't there a Taiwanese (ROC) flag option in the Flag selection settings in the hangar?

This choice by Gajjin ragebaits me since they HAD to change the WW2 Japanese flag, but couldn’t change this one somehow. What infuriates me is how they are so hypocritical about flags, on one hand we have the unofficial flag of Germany as the default, then changing the unofficial flag of Japan, which can’t be changed back, and also listing the Leopard in their Kriegsmarine configuration as Wiermar Republic operated, but not letting us change the German flag to the Weimar one.

SUGGESTION DRAFT

image

Hello everyone,

I would like to kindly suggest adding the Republic of China (ROC) national flag as an optional emblem in the new custom flag feature. The ROC flag, featuring the blue sky, white sun, and wholly red earth, was officially adopted in 1928 after the Northern Expedition and served as the national flag of China from 1928 to 1949. It has continued to represent the Republic of China since the government relocated to Taiwan in 1949 following the Chinese Civil War. Several vehicles in the Chinese tech tree, such as the CM11 Brave Tiger and M60A3 TTS, were operated by ROC forces during and after that era. Including this historically significant flag would provide players with more accurate customization options for these vehicles in the new custom flag system, without any impact on gameplay balance or nation placement.

What do you think? Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

The mods say when suggesting the flag just add it history, it very simple that all… so what else do I have to add, I checked other flag suggestions and it very short.

It’s even worse when you ask yourself what they are doing, because it makes no sense at all. You’d think that there’s at least some sort of standard for what the main techtree flag is from, but no, it’s just random:

image
Current “main” flags for techtrees

  • USA, national flag (1912-1959)
  • Germany, war flag (1935-1937)
  • USSR, national flag (1936-1955)
  • “Great Britain” (UK), national flag (1801-now)
  • Japan, national flag (1870-1945 and 1947-1999)
  • China, PRC national flag (1949-now)
  • Italy, national flag (1946-now)
  • France, national flag (1976-2020)
  • Sweden, national flag (1906-now)
  • Israel, national flag (1948-now)

The timeframes don’t match up in any consistent way, with many being very specific variants like the German war flag being based on the initial one before the 1938 revision or the French flag being specifically the 1976 introduced lighter blue variant (but to be fair when the tree was added it was at least still an official flag).
Aside from Germany being this weird variant it seems like they went for an initial theme of WWII flags, then shifted to trying to use modern flags for all the added nations from China onwards.

I really hope they unify them to all modern or all WWII flags, because as it is it’s a mess.

This is even worse considering how easy it is to add a Weimar Republic flag

Pretty much the same as the modern flag

You’d think they can just write “Weimar Republic”, which they already have for the dev server, and then use this flag that is also an existing asset in game, but somehow they’d rather not add it at all. It’s like ROC, except here it’s already a widely used flag icon while the ROC national flag is at least only used for the language settings right now.

So Israel its older than China? lmao

THANK YOU!! I’m so glad someone else recognized this, I feel like Gaijjin just half-assed its implementation of flags and the ability to change them.

It’s like how India is older than Russia

Niche your rough edit does exist in game, it was the pre-order bonus decal for the Type 1936A Zerstörer Z20 as a deck IFF flag.

Because Gaijin.
