Why is the Stormer HVM so bad?

In regards to the AhMk1 part:
you launched it wrong, that’s a skill issue, learn how to properly launch them

Stormer HVM (Starstreaks) are literally the best missiles that you can get on a 10.3 platform, but is very skill-dependant (and latency), and in the hands of a capable player, more feared by air vehicles (planes and especially helis)(within it’s range) than even VT1s

You’re objectively wrong.
Starstreaks before the latest nerfs? Sure.
Now? No chance.
The damage they dealt on impact got nerfed noticeably and the lock breaks and violently switches to any flares, rockets or ATGMs fired.
Throw in the nerf to manoeuvrability to what was already a horrible 1-2km deadzone making it perform even worse in this area.
Tie this in with the existing phase through bug and it is now more inconsistent than it has been in a very long time.

No offence, but what is your point? That someone with more hours than 99.99% of players can do well in the vehicle, therefore it isn’t bad?

How can you tell without seeing exactly?

That’s not what I asked though. How can you tell it is skill issue without even seeing an example of me firing the missile?

Even if I do not perfectly line up the launcher with the target/gunner sight, do you really think it’s plausible that a weapon which advertises itself as able to hit a 9G manoeuvring target at 7km, can’t manage to hit a stationary target 2km away? The min range should be the order of hundreds of metres, not kilometres. Skill is irrelevant.

so, … when are you all going to fix the stormer, and the stinger missiles then, oh and the TOW 2B, that you all nerfed.

i mean… does it hit one of them? :D

Uncommonly.
One shots used to be very frequent against jets before the latest nerf a couple months ago.
If you’re shooting at something like a KA-52 or Mi-28 it will often require multiple hits.
If you’re shooting against jets now it’s a guessing game. Just yesterday I had an F5C eat 3 hits and still be practically fine, the next game I had another F5C eat two hits and still be fine, next one had the good old su-25 eat 3 hits and still not care and then the one after that had a drone eat four hits and just ignore me while he lobbed his ATGMs at some poor sods. Just a couple of examples from my latest session with the stormer.
Also it’s incidentally much worse at killing light vehicles now after the most recent hotfix since it no longer explodes inside the vehicle.

TL;DR
Damage is far worse that it was in the big patch a couple months ago and one-shots jets considerably less frequently.

That is very cool and all but have you heard anything from the devs in regards to the automatic target tracking?
(& loosing locks when aircraft flare or shoot a weapon?
(& why was the speed of the starstreak nerfed?)
(& why do they still spin around like that when we have footage of how they work?)).
Feels like a bit of a slap in the face from you when people are voicing genuine issues and concerns about the platform and you just go yeah nah look here is ten kills I got.

its the consistency that gripes me, sometimes 3 tungsten rods going >mach3 obliterates the target, other times im hitting them 2-3-4 times just to get a ‘crit tail damage’ (someone will, as they have done before will say its an issue with all damage models but what kind of an answer is this? are we to just accept it or should we continue to moan about things till they get fixed?)

clip skill issue? ping? didn’t side climb? packet-loss? didnt angle?

much love, no hate.

Got any reports about these issues for me to forward? I’ll happily take a look.

what does this mean? is the clip not a good enough example of what SOME of the issues are?? there is very little info out there on the official capacity of the systems so i simply would not be able to create a report, what am i meant to do?

&& rather than silence people who are stating their opinion on how things are handled maybe respond to them acknowledging the issues they have raised.

ofcs I shouldn’t need to say this but i appreciate what you do for the community Gunjob and understand that your tech mod title puts you in a precarious place when talking about issues.

seriously though, what would i need to show & explain to you to have issues resolved?
often we hear the excuse “it works as it was intended to” when talking about other vehicles but is the starstreak working as Thales Air Defence intended? im not asking for a HVM where i just look at people and they die i just want it to be consistent and make sense.

Simply, we need reports here Community Bug Reporting System otherwise nothing will change. No report, no fix.

Thank you for simplifying that for me, could you lend me a few more moments of your time and give me some advice to not be ignore/dismissed like these few reports? 1, 2, 3. Would this vid from Thales be a good enough source?

Some of us have actual jobs, and don’t have the time or patience to collate the information we’ve collected here into an official bug report, which in all likelihood won’t be actioned on.

Sure manufactures videos are an acceptable source. You’d need to include the timestamp of the part you’re referencing. And demonstrate that issue in game.

If you spent half as much time reporting the issues you have, as much as you complaining on the forum, you’d have a point.

Nobody is demanding you do anything. I explained to you clearly at the beginning of this topic a month ago, that if you suspected there were issues with the tank and you had evidence to support this, all that’s required was a report.

The role of a Technical Moderators is to forward properly created bug reports and guide people to and through the process. It is not the “job” of a Technical Moderator to take rants and random claims out from a random forum topic to hopefully find whatever material may be relevant to understand whatever issue you were originally talking about to make a bug report with that. If you do have the information required and relevant, it takes less than 5 minutes to create a report with it all.

Arguing with people over and over is not going to change any of the facts of the matter.

Gunjob is the one saying I’m not entitled to voice my frustrations on the forums unless I’m also diligently doing bug reports.

I know what you “explained”, hence why I’ve not wanted to involve you in this conversation again.

If you think this thread is only full of rants and unsubstantiated claims, then that is literally a perfect example of why posting bug reports for these issues is a total waste of our time. Videos and brochures from the manufacturer’s aren’t enough if it’s the wrong nation. Personally I’ve given up at this point, and accepted nothing will change. I play Russia when I want to have fun and UK when I want to suffer with vehicles I like irl.
