Why is the Stormer HVM so bad?

Iff???

IFF

Identify friend or foe

The stormer in game currently doesn’t have it, despite the presence of antennas for it and images of “IFF interrogate” on the display when it’s in combat.

Oh yh i was thinking that earlier aswell, i believe it also has a missile approach warning system aswell like the VERDI-2 Warrior IFV/SPAA

I have the aftermath photos of that helicopter, and i have tons of videos of the stormer inside and out taking down aircraft if u want me to DM you any.

The Stormer in game doesn’t have modelled, the antennas are the black plates above the launch tubes when mounted.

Ok, so if we base it on this image (and revising my very rough calculations I posted in the other thread), and the published dimensions of 396mm length and 22mm diameter of the dart, the warhead section seems to be about 20cm long.

Let’s be generous and say the walls are only 1mm (I’d guess more for fragmentation effect), so the cylinder of explosives would be 20cm long (height h) and have a diameter of 2cm, so a radius r of 1cm.

So as we know a cylinders volume V = π·r²·h, here that would be 62.8 cm³.

And if the used explosive is indeed Composite B, which has a density of 1.7 g/cm³, we’re at a explosives mass of 106.8g.

But as I said, wall thickness (fragmentation mantle) of only 1mm seems quite thin, and I don’t know how the core looks (fuse?).

So I’d also think it would be correct with around 100g per dart - so maybe the stats are not per dart but for all 3 of them combined?

Stormer should have NCTR Too

Every spaa have IFF in its radar screen mode.

They had to find some way to ruin Starstreak for those of us with good ping lmao

Guess we will see how it performs but it’s not looking promising.

Stomer has IFF in the radar screen, but all targets are ‘Enemy’

I dunno what I suggested that was that awful. The stormer HVM as it is in game has

  • No IFF panels
  • No Martlet

This would fix those issues, without changing the BR of the base stormer HVM.

The stormer HVM should only have IFF if it has the IFF panels as seen here posted by @AblativeKitten , which it currently does not have.

These pannel’s are an upgrade that allow it to have IFF, so currently the only info it should show on the radar screen is distance, speed and possibly vehicle type? ie, helicopter, jet, but no friendly identifier AFAIK.

Still simpler/better to get IFF/NCTR and then bug report the missing panels

I’m sure gaijin would claim that to add them, it would require a comprehensive remodel of the vehicle ((which to be fair, would be nice to bring it up to standard)) so wouldn’t do it.

Yeah… probably

I’d argue it’s less than what you would think.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but the explosive is housed in the central section of the dart. The dart is made from tungsten which is hard to hollow out and still be thick enough to maintain some form of integrity when hitting an aircraft. If the walls were 1mm thick it would shatter like glass on impact which would be terrible for a projectile which relies mostly on kinetic energy to kill.

I’d estimate the walls to be more like 2-3mm thick, which would give about 40-60g of explosive once you factor in the fuse and other stuff.

Well, now the patch is out the Starstreaks have an explosive mass of 1.2kg of Composition B. So that’s about 700 ccm…

They sure pack those darts tightly, eh?

Were so back

Bro what
Did someone add an extra 0…

Do you know if overpressure is back?

No clue, I just reported what I saw on the statcard.

The Radar function makes using Starstreak so much easier now and it kills things rather than phase through things.
