you realise uplink doesn’t need to be modelled, right?
there’s plenty of things erroneously modeled, missing, or modeled when they shouldn’t be, but people always assume something has to be modeled to 100% accuracy when added when plenty things already aren’t.
also, this isn’t me advocating to add the MICA IR. even without uplink it’d easily be the best IR missile even if contemporaries were added, let alone adding it in current state.
to be fair alot of the other iRCCM missiles do actually have better airframes in some way, but none really do what the Magic 2 does, which is the ability to teleport inside of someone’s anus within a picosecond on a 3km launch

How is it better than the PL8B and AAM3 exactly? you can debate its better than the 9m, i personally prefer the 9M, but any other top tier IR missile is literally more maneuverable and has longer range. Again go to statshark and test it for yourself, its common knowledge…
the Magic 2’s boon is its fin-based agility and absolutely bonkers acceleration, all unmatched within 3km.
before you say R-73, it’s the only IR TVC missile and thus doesn’t count for fin-based agility and its acceleration is also hampered by the missile pulling more AOA than it needs to at almost all times

Only struggles in range and I mean it has great acceleration so if you fire it at high speed it will have decent range

Do they? Mirage 2000 and rafales doent really have a “worse” airframes than it peers, and it’s high acceleration probably match the irccm the best.

magic 2 has been the best short range ir since the its fin aoa buff in 2024
i think from personal experience that the aam3 is second followed by the 9m then the pl8b and last r73
reason why the r73 is last is because i find it very easy to flare despite having the best maneuverability because of tvc
it also has tracking issue sometimes and is kinda slow of the rail
R-73 would be much more of a problem for me if i wasn’t 1-flaring it all the damn time in literally every scenario except right up my ass.
they must’ve done something to the R-73 because i swear i used to see videos a few years back of it doing absolutely cracked maneuvers while the target is dumping flares and it’d still hit no matter the aspect.
i also find it silly we’re still calling it “off the rail” when warthunder hasn’t and probably never will model launch rails, all missiles just fall off the rail when launched
I miss undertood you then, still the only thing that the other really have is an small range advantage aside from the aam3 and the tvc on the r73, but aside from the r73 it has the best short range performance as it can pull much more AOA
can’t really call the 73 or the M2 better at short range when they’re 2 sides of the same coin.
the magic 2 is more of a “caught you with your pants down and put this missile where the sun don’t shine before you can get your pants back on” type of weapon, while the R-73 is slowly cutting its way through your pants to get to where it wants to go while being much more aggressive in doing so and it doesn’t care if it has to chew through your flesh to get there.
they both do their jobs just fine, but the Magic 2 requires more finesse and rewards you for granting it a good launch angle whereas the R-73 just rips off the hardpoint like a mf even if your target is behind you
