Why is the IS-6 at 7.7

Its slow, only 230mm of pen max and nearly every game is at 8.3 or 8.7

Because it isn’t good anymore

We have a giant thread about this topic: Why are Heavy Tanks not allowed to actually function as HEAVY TANKS? - #571 by AurenKarach

Ok i will check it out now

Because at 7.0 not everyone could pen it without aiming:

Only Ru251 6.7, Japz 6.3, M46 7.0, M50 ontos 6.7, M56 scorpion 6.7, every French tank, some Sweden SPG BR 4.0 etc
Too stronk

I know but i want to have a little fun instead of going against 8.3 and 8.7 most games

Me too.
I have is-6.
At 7.7 it’s useless. Ammo rack everywhere, no stabilizer, 16 sec reloading, worst penetration at 7.7 , worst gun depression…
Heavy tank of 1944 year cannot fight against tanks designed in 195* year

Unrelated but do you happen to know when the next sl crates are coming back

Maybe 30 October. Birthday of the game

Ok thanks

Tell that to the IS-3s in service until like 1960. They absolutely can fight, but at that point they’re a slow medium tank and not a heavy tank (which is kind of why they were phased out)

Maybe because they were cheap to operate

You have a point there. If in full uptier heavy tanks are just slow mediums, maybe they should have the same SP cost as medium tanks when in full uptier?

That’s why I said “kind of,” it was mostly because MBT/mediums were cheaper lol

I want to say they used to a long time ago so I’m not sure why they got rid of it, maybe heavy tanks are still good even in an uptier due to their large(r) gun and get more pen (or something)

Sherman and Pershing were also in service until the sixties.
You can find the results of the battles of the Egyptian IS-3 against the M48 or other more modern tanks on the Internet

Most medium and light tanks have more pen than most heavy tanks at 7.0/7.7

Same BR as the maus is kinda uhhh

A lot of the IS series are overtiered.

IS-1 is 5.7 when it’s really a 5.3 tank because it’s not that much better than the KV-85 and worse than the T-34-85s IMHO. The KV-122 is at 5.7 and its a baby IS-2 which feels appropriate.

IS-2 at 6.3 should be 5.7.

IS-2 (1944) and Object 248 are at 6.7 when they should be 6.0-6.3. Object 248 is an IS-1 with a 100mm gun so you have no armor at that BR.

IS-3 is 7.3 and that thing is just crap at that BR. M-51 and other HEAT slinging tanks rip through your armor like its non-existent.

IS-4M, T10A, and IS-6 suffer from the same issues as the IS-3, but its worse at 7.7 with all the HEAT slingers lobbing 400mm+ pen shells. You’re also at the point where your 230mm pen shells is useless against a lot of tanks. Those jumbo pershings in particular are a nightmare to fight. Frontally they’re completely immune to you except for the turret roof and cupola.

The IS series, especially the IS-7 used to be monsters until they started adding more and more HEAT shells.
