The Churchill’s turret is a permanent weak spot and its gun is only a 2-pounder. I can hardly understand why the vehicle sits at the same and even higher than some tanks with the L46 and L48 75mm that the Germans get.
The Churchill 1’s speed is super low and the gun is barely capable of fighting late Panzer III tanks, shouldn’t the vehicle move down to 3.0 or 2.7? The tank is heavy and slow. It shouldn’t feel like a free kill even in a down-tier like it currently is.
There’s a fundamental reason why no one plays this vehicle. The BR is horrific and unjustified.
Why would anyone play the Churchill 1 when the Panzer IV or KV-1 exist? They’re better by miles.
This isn’t even funny.
Churchill’s armor, have you considered that? And nowadays even better with the Churchill VII with that stupid armor values in a downtier hole.
Churchill I itself is indeed a vehicle to learn to play but isn’t unplayable, get full load of smoke rounds on the howitzer and angle, you’re unstoppable, you have tools to use, don’t ignore it.

This is a 3.0 tank at 500 meters.
Pretty good values for me, Churchill platform naturally has a troll armor, barely no one would shoot at those spots in the first shot.

If the Churchill 1 was a good tank, more people would be using it.
Also, what you say is untrue. I am showing you the strongest position to get hit. The side of the hull. The Turret is always a penetration at any angle. German players also gravitate to the turret and center of mass when hitting enemies when possible, so it’s rare to bounce shots.
In comparison, the Churchill 1 struggled to pen the Panzer IV and do significant damage back. The hull barely kills any crew when you do penetrate and the turret, while green for the most part, even at 500 meters, has many red spots. The 2-pounder is also a tiny caliber unlike the German gun and you have to penetrate enemies several times in many spots to kill them.
Tbh Churchill 1, unlike 3, NA75 and 7 is absolute pile of junk. It could easly go down a bit

Which is an open top tank destroyer with limited gun traverse.
I don’t disagree with the Churchill being overtiered (I’ve never played it), but using a tank destroyer that has one of the most powerful guns at its BR range (in fact this gun is even more powerful than the gun on the 3.7 Pz.IVs) in order to say that the Churchill lacks armor isn’t really an argument.
The Panzer IVG is the same BR as the Churchill 1 and has a similar gun.
I used the tank destroyer to make a point that even in a down tier the Churchill faces tanks that can still easily penetrate it. The Panzer IV G and F2 are the same BR as the Churchill 1 and can do the same.
A reminder that this is 500 meters away and the turret is a guaranteed kill. The Churchill should not have to cower from a medium tank at its BR.
And how exactly is this fair?
Yeah, honestly, while the Churchill 1 is definitely quite armored for its BR, it still has some glaring weakspots (primarily due to the WW1 design) that are abusable and because the Churchill 1 is a very low pen and incredibly low mobility piece of junk, it can’t even do anything to overcome those weaknesses. Meanwhile the KV-1 (L-11) has amazing armor, excellent mobility (even better than a Pz 4) and pretty decent penetration. It’s just not worth playing at all in its current state. Hell, even the French B1 Ter does what it does literally better, it has better armor layout, better mobility and much smaller size, only thing it doesn’t have is better pen (but you do still have 2 guns and one has explosive filler). Churchill definitely has to go to 3.0.
