Today I’ve accidentally killed 2 team mates via AAM’s. I swear my red circle is on the enemy, but it just decides to go after my teammate instead. The problem is that my teammates in both occasions were like 20-30 degrees away from the front of the missile while the enemy was in a 5 degree zone. Does anyone why my missiles want to get me banned?
(also moderators this isn’t rage post, just a question)
Heat Signatures. Just because you have a red circle on your enemy does not mean the missile will follow that, the Missile follows the closest heat signature which in this case is your allies. If you were using Radar related missiles then it would track the enemy.
Ally would be closer and have a higher heat signature. Also if the enemy fares it it may turn off and aquire an ally instead
Best course it to literally just not fire a missile if teammates are within the gimble limits of your seeker head. (I.e the big outer circle)
Just swing them missiles away, not your problem teammates fly into them
I was using Aim-9G’s. Also one of them did die after i launched a missile but i dont see how it wouldve locked onto my teammate when he was maybe 20 degrees to the right of the missile seeker
That’s still a heat seeker. Perhaps because the giant external circle is radius the missile can detect a heat signature. But you need to keep it in a smaller circle so it can get a lock on. And if the missile detects a stronger heat signature it’s going to immediately go for that instead since it design with that in mind
