the absolute STATE of HESH:

the absolute STATE of HESH:
Maybe the driver’s corpse is just exceptionally durable?
greatest tushonka-fed siberian man
I AM HEAVY WEAPONS GUY! And this… is my NEW WEAPON!
FYI if you fire the HEAT round and land it on a copola you do enough HE overpressure to wipe all the crew.
I think it can happen to the hull roof but not 100% sure.
So yeah, HESH is errr, not doing so hot, even the generic HEAT round is superior on that tank (its not even FS).
gaijin: “You’re welcome. That’ll be $50 please”. Btw how long does it take to refill the first stage once it’s depleted?
Driver is better than any Spall Liner
Now imagine that same damage, but with a 21-second reload time, also having spent money, and only having this type of bullet, and also, in the case of the Centurion AVRE, having the wrong frontal armor thickness.
Taken a break for a month.
I see HESH is still in an horrific state.
Heaven forbid stuff actually gets fixed.
FV4005 and AVRE are still fun to use, at least
Ugh, no, with how bad HESH is, those vehicles are just plain old meme tanks. You can do well in one game because you hit someone in the wheel and kill them, and in another game you can’t destroy a BMP with a 40kg round.
The essence of tanks with high HESH (mainly the AVRE and CEV, and now the T58) is that you can easily kill a tank with a single shot, more or less hitting it anywhere, as long as you can hit it.
I must like me a meme tank, then.
I have both the Centurion AVRE and the M728 CEV and I know perfectly well what they are like, so you can also imagine that I like complicated tanks, but one thing is complicated tanks and another thing is that clearly something is not working well, the developers know it and for years they do nothing.
I’m not saying they can’t be improved. I’m just saying they work well enough that they’re fun to use.
Sometimes you’ll be frustrated, other times you’ll kill multiple vehicles in one shot, others you’ll nuke a Maus and have them crying. It’s all part of the fun.
AVRE has been one of the least regretful purchases I have made in this game.
What he means is that often, light tanks have at least equal firepower to everything else at their BR, plus a mobility advantage, plus very trolly survivability that can make them very tanky, plus the scouting mechanic, plus the air strike modification. It is actually kind of ridiculous. It is also why so many of them keep going up in BR.
The over penning mechanic is sometimes appropriate and sometimes ridiculous. For example, a 128mm APHE by a Sturer Emil hitting an M18’s turret and not killing the gunner or the commander… I don’t care if the fuze did not trigger, there’s no room inside that turret for equipment and crew + the 128mm as a physical object 😁 that’s without considering the kinetic impact of something so heavy slamming into the turret.
You forgot artillery…
And to get those advantages give up armour to the point many of them can be knocked out by 5.56 machineguns.
That’s the point though, while that’s the intended trade off, in practice it doesn’t always work out that way. And not just because of empty space.
The old hull break mechanic is not the solution because it only targeted one class of vehicles and was similarly divorced from reality. A better bet would probably be to just model the kinetic impact of shells more faithfully as well as keeping into account the volumetric aspect of even shells that haven’t fuzed.
It would be nice if they corrected the damage of HESH ammunition, especially the large caliber ones.
It would also be interesting to add HESH ammunition for the M109.If the large caliber HESHs worked well and were added to the 155mm SPGs, an interesting Br separation could be made, with SPGs like the early M44 and M109 having lower Br, and then the more modern M109s, Pz2000, Vidar, etc. having higher Br.
HESH used to work fine until the IS6 was released. HESH was good at killing it so Gaijin nerfed it into uselessness.
