Upper front plate or lower side in non-pay2win Tiger is as non+problematic as it can be.
Pay2win Tiger is a no-go, basically indeed only guns with 160 pen or na more will be fully reliable and non-problematic at distance, go for the middle to avoid driver’s black hole and MG port and you are golden.
Now, GL HF going for the barrel from a few hundred meters away, while all Tiger has to do is penetrate you anywhere with its nuke shell.
So vs techtree variant I just fire at the biggest target available - UFP or lower side and score kills.
Vs Pay2win Tiger I know I’m shafted.
Wait, there are Tiger I players who actually sit back and snipe?
On a serious note, I wouldn’t try to put myself in that position anyway. I’m almost always a flanker, or in a tank that is on equal or better footing playing the same hull-down/heavy armor game(or again, has the overmatch gun capability). Trying to engage in a sniping duel with a Tiger player who both actually uses the tank to its advantages and is aware of my position is less than ideal. You’re also talking to someone who mains Britain, so engaging a Tiger I frontally is already a bad idea thanks to solid shot oftentimes being whacky, and gun handling being less than stellar.
I honestly have no clue what you want to come out of this though. Panzer IV’s to go even lower? Shermans and T-34’s to go higher? Historical matchmaking where Pz.III’s have to face Churchill VII’s and KV-1’s?
All of Germany’s woes lie strictly in the vast majority who main the nation, and by lesser extension, the sad(historic) lack of smaller, fast-moving CAS but very solid fighters.
Well, this is WT forum, so everyone hits the cupola and barrel on a moving target. But I don’t and neither does majority of players.
Once again - pay2win Tiger is much harder to kill and is way easier to play thz to no s-mine launchers. The fact you avoid shooting the biggest and deadlies weakspot on non pay2win Tiger is not really a good argument.
All I want is for people to realise German lineups are inherently flawed and teaching people bad habits. Also they are lacking the one thing they are super bad against - fast hard hitter, like Hellcat or Su-100P, and proper medium tanks in general, with sole exception of VK (which will run unsupported, because there’s nothing else like it)
Playing other nations above 4.7(until 7.7) is unfun for me, so the guns I use generally aren’t of great use against the frontal armor of a Tiger. Most of the guns I use have 104mm of pen, or over 160mm. So either I exploit the weak points, or overmatch.
Jumbo’s armor is timy bit weaker vs APCBC than a single plate of same thickness.
But due to broken APBC code that treats each plate as separate entity (and APBC is behaving like a rong rod penetrator vs relatively thin angled plate, see Stug IIIg vs Soviet 76) Jumbo’s UFP is basically within penetration range of 85mm. This of course is completely not realistic behaviour entirely made up by Gaijin. But Gaijin won’t fix it unless we give them a scientific research disproving a thesis that no sane man ever formulated. In other words, Gaijin made something up and will nver fix it unless some modern scientists prove it wrong, LOL.
And tell me my friend, where in that book the authors claim that 2 plates bolted/welded together are behaving just like same 2 plates in spaced armor array?
I’ll tell you: absolutely nowhere, and nobody reasonable in entire human history has ever made such a claim. It’s entirely made up by Gaijin.
I wasn’t, I made sure to match the contruction angle. Seems like they fixed it though, because before the whole UFP would light up green.
Dismissively saying “less pen” but it’s over 40mm more lol. And Firefly also gets much better optics too.
You should try out the Su-7s.
This is because the japanese mediums are generally too high. F2 is about where it belongs with its nonexistent armor, G could/should be moved up to 3.7 along with H.
That’s at the cost of everything else though. The platform sucks, it is a 1935-designed tank after all. All the armor is flat and thin, there’s ammo EVERYWHERE,
It’s slower than both M4 and T-34. Which is fine, but that’s not helping it at all.
Much better gun than the Pz IV’s. Yes, you get oneshot by HE, it’s not that significant. If they need to load HE to kill you, you basically just got a free shot; whereas an F2 would just be penetrated and die from the 50mm hull front.
The real advantage is that the obnoxious anti-personnel mine launchers are gone.
It isn’t dismissive. It’s 40-sum less pen, but a full BR lower. It is identically comparable when it has to fight KV-1’s, as a Firefly is to fighting Tiger I’s.
I will pose this question that I had asked previously again again:
What are you hoping to achieve with this argument? That Pz.IV’s should go down even further in BR? That Shermans, and T-34’s should go higher?
I also find it a bit funny how you all leave out the Achilles even though is is just flat-out better than the Wolverine with its same BR, but vastly superior gun and consistently good post pen. The massive drawbacks of the M10 platform are the abysmal gun handling, poor armor protection, an awful turret rotation speed, salvageable mobility, and being open top.
ROFL, downplaying importance.of armor that removes the biggest weakspot from a tank and creates an absolute hellhole in its place for many popular guns that it’s facing.
Add on armor to the UFP is a HUGE change to the Tiger. Not as big as removal of launchers that are still there for sole purpose of making pay2win Tigers more attractive.
You are basically encouraging Gaijin to do more of this move, because you make it seem like community is absolutely fine with pay2win premiums and artificial nerfs to techtree vehicles that make said premiums more attractive.
Pretty sure you already replied to that post and that we had this conversation already, bud. I’ll repeat myself: I find absolutely no meaningful difference in fighting an OST/West over a standard H1. Either my guns already don’t pen it anyway, or have such great pen anyway that it lolpens the extra bit of track armor that is .75 of its shown armor value. Because I know the limits of the vehicle I am playing, and the limits of the vehicle that I am potentially engaging. I know the weakpoint isn’t a potentially volumetric hull corner, but the massive cupola and weaker lower side armor under the sponsons. The S-mines on the corners are a mild inconvenience, but should be removed from the TT vehicle, or added to the premiums. On top of that, this isn’t an argument of premium vs TT. This is an argument of Germany apparently once more suffering.
Come on, man. Your stats speak for themselves. You’re a good player, and a majority of your German tanks played perform just as well if not better than the US vehicles you’ve played. There’s literally zero reason to even have the stance you have when you, on average, perform equal to if not better in a German tank than the competition.
Yet a third time(having to repeat myself a lot here): What do you wish to accomplish with your argument? Pz.IV’s need to go down yet another full BR, or for all of its competition to go up?
