Why doesn't Warthunder evolve?

I started playing Warthunder in February 2024, and there has never been a significant update that really changed the game, there are no new maps, there are no new game modes, there is no difference in the gameplay, it is simply moving forward and whoever shoots first wins, the maps and the style of play are monotonous, the updates only focus on new vehicles, which are mostly useless like the A10C for example, why would I use an A10 in TOPTIER if I have an F16C which is infinitely superior in everything, since there is the Pantsir on the other side, the game’s climates are horrible, there should be storms and weather effects like hurricanes or earthquakes, the scenario should develop throughout the match, gosh BF4 which is a game from 2013 the map is completely destroyed, but I don’t play BF because it is very arcade and old without updates, what is Gaijin doing to improve Warthunder? New modules? what difference does it make if 90% of the shots are hitkill, what’s the point in breaking the enemy’s battery hahahaha, seriously warthunder is abandoned and gaijin only brings garbage updates to the game and doesn’t change/improve what really needs it, 90% of the game’s maps are garbage, the map rotation is broken, 90% are the same way, a few buildings in the middle and the rest open field, another fact is that there are places on the map but you simply can’t go there or a timer starts counting and you die if you don’t go back, or they simply block the passage with rocks and high hills, the maps and the game style is literally the same as an FPS, as if the tanks had the cadence of an AK47…

My man, you’ve been playing for less than a year…
Evolution, as we have learned, takes place over the course of TIME.
Game has been out since 2013, it has EVOLVED into what it is now.
It takes time lmfao.

If you only started playing in 2024, then I’m afraid you’re experiencing a recency bias.

I started playing in 2018-19 and the game has changed quite a bit since then. And the game has been going since 2013! Lots has changed. Just because the game hasn’t added dynamic weather effects and earthquakes doesn’t mean that the game isn’t changing.

One could argue that the pace of changes has slowed down, and that might have some merit.

I started playing in Feb. 2014 . . 10+ years ago. Game has changed a GREAT deal in that time frame. When I started there were only planes, 5 nations and 5 tiers with jets being rather scarce and going to F-86, MiG-15 & 17 era mostly. And no guided weaponry . . . there were rockets, but it was LOS, aim and pray kinda rockets. So quite different in that aspect. Many things are the same or similar and a lot of that is “comfort” for the users as many even slight changes can send the player base into a frenzy . . . lol, no kidding there was and always has been a bit of “drama” from some. But in the end it is a video game, played by people from all over the world, many different countries and cultures, widely varied internet connections and hardware. As well as MANY different age groups(I am 67 y/o)
We all like different things and want different vehicles/maps/game modes etc.
They do a good job of adding new content, mostly vehicles but that’s ok. It is one of the main ways the generate revenue(which keeps the game going) and most players like and look forward to it. The company may not be as big as many think, a least not the ones that develop this new content. So things take time. But all things considered I feel like they do a respectable job of coming up with new things for the most part. Yeah some stuff needs fixing here & there. Sure, it would be great to have some more variety to maps/game modes. And who doesn’t like good bug fixes? . . . all in due time. Many joke about the Snail icon/logo, saying it’s because they are “slow”, but I think it’s more about the old Japanese saying of “how does a snail climb Mt. Fuji?? . . . . . . slowly” . . It’s more about dedication than anything . . I think one should think about that and try to be “patient” . .
just seems better than being demanding and entitled, yeah?

Does changing basic things in the game really take that long? Does gaijin only have 2 or 3 employees? And whoever makes the maps seems to be using drugs while modeling them.

Meh Rant. Barely a 3.1.

Stuff like this takes INCREDIBLY long.
I don’t know if you have ever worked a salaried job at a company, but everything takes time.
If they find a bug, they have to make sure its actually the cause. Then they have to fix it, might take a few approvals to fix it. Then they need to test out the fix as updates have a incredibly high likelihood of introducing new bugs. Once they’ve tested, they probably have to get a few more approvals showing its fixed. They will probably then need to ship it off to another team for more testing and approvals. They also might not update it as soon as its fixed, as more updates might effect it. It takes a ridiculous amount of time to take something from production, to a final product, and is only lengthened by having a big company.

even attempting to FIND the bug can take weeks/years.
they also take on MULTIPLE projects/tasks at the same time. Rarely will they ever solely work on 1 task at a time, unless its of critical importance.

“Why aren’t Gaijin gods that evolve the game over seconds. No developer has ever done this in the history of game development, but I expect this from Gaijin Entertainment.”

@GabrielSchmitt
Your post reads as if it’s poorly written.
“Tanks play as if they’re tanks.” Welcome to War Thunder.

… and a D Point!

Yes, I can honestly say . . . I have captured the D point . . . several times . . . lol

Because there’s no need for it to evolve. It’s the only game of it’s kind on the market, and it has reached enough of a critical mass that it’s not easily displaced by anything new. So Gaijin can just coast along not doing much of anything except think up ways to sell more premiums.

8 months without changing practically anything, just fox 3???

as if the introduction of a brand new modern technology isn’t enough lol. What would your acceptable version of evolution for the game that could come in 1 year or less?

I started playing 2021 i think or earlier?

@Gale_Cleven Did you ever stop playing and then return after some time?

Ikd when i actually started, i started trying it out on my sister’s ps4 then stopped because i was hard to learn then started to get more into it with my cousin probably tried it 2018?

When did you start actively playing? I have been playing WT since May 30th, 2017 and I can tell you the game is drastically different than it was in the past, i came around the end of the golden era of War Thunder before it transitioned into a period more or less of the old but at the same time not the old, and then whatever the heck it is now. For better or worse, the game is in a rough spot. Since it has no true competitors, despite what folks claim WOT is not a true competitor nor are any of the other games claimed either.

What are you even on about though?

There have been plenty of additions beyond just Fox-3 missiles, even in just the last 8 months:

  • Sensor Replay mode
  • Customizable reticles
  • Detailed internal modules for helicopters and some light ground vehicles
  • drag-and-drop crew slots/vehicles
  • GPS bombs
  • more detailed destruction physics
  • Mysterious Valley air map
  • Bering Sea naval map
  • North Holland ground map
