Why does war thunder have a chat filter if it allows you to say things that get you chat banned? It just doesnt make sense.
You can make a sentence out of allowed words that will get you banned.
You could still just filter out the bad ones?
That. The filter only allows a very limited control over some words. Also, the presence of an (optional) filter in no way implies one can break the chat rules.
Another question one should ask is, why do people insist on using language that gets them in trouble, if they very well know that using such language gets them into trouble again and again?
Why not have it how it is but forcibly filter out the bad words, and any way around it gets you chat banned
The filter hardly even works and it’s pretty hard to get chat banned. I would know, I said some very nasty things to a cas spammer
It is not difficult to get chat banned.
For example if one gets chat banned again and again.
And if someone does not understand why, our team of GM’s will explain if contacted via PM.
It would not be difficult to NOT get chatbanned. Just stick to the game rules.
I don’t know. I chat pretty regularly in my SB EC lobbies and I haven’t ever gotten into trouble since howeverlong I’ve been playing. It takes a very particular effort to get chat banned and I have even went out of my way to bully zombers and “PvE?” only players by saying simple things like “This is a PvPvE game mode” and “I am just doing the objectives.”
One thing you are missing by the way is the fact that Warthunder is a global game. The filter has no way of differentiating Russian, Hungarian, Polish, German, French, English, Chinese, Japanese and so on. The fact that you can szabadon kombinálhatod a szavakat több languages át, if you are willing to concede grammar just makes it much, much harder still.
Still, idk I feel like there should be a way of doing SOMETHING yk, like we already have a chat filter just make it permanently on?
The problem is, it’s really really hard to make an effective filter covering multiple languages and not have it be oppressive.
I once played a game where “cock” was replaced with chicken. “Cockpit” came out as “chickenpit” which was hilarious.
What the chat really needs is built in translation. Would be amazing
Well, I and many others have their own chatfilter on, the one that prevents us from uttering inappropriate things in public… ;-)
Although English is my second language, I’m ontologically against built in and automatic translation. If such had existed when I was a child I doubt I would have achieved the language proficiency I have today. Lack of ubiquitous, casual translation is a good thing - it motivates people to learn and expand their understanding of the world.
Additionally, translators cannot be trusted. Over and over I find things translated between Hungarian and English to be quite wrong - whether done by simple dictionary software, LLMs or indeed professional translators. It’s better to engage with subject matters in their original, unadulterated form.
Correct me if I’m wrong , but use of profanity doesn’t necessarily give a chat ban.
So something like “f#£& yeah, that was awesome” would be fine.
But used in another context could result in a chat ban. The filter would eliminate the word in both contexts
3.2.2. Obscene or abusive language, including words and consonants with the terms and phrases in any language written, including transliteration.
This is why you cannot just say anything that you want in the game’s chats.
This is one of the Rules we all agreed to follow when we made our accounts to begin playing.
Now that chat filter is there so people, like parents of minors and so on, have some control over what is seen in the chats. The filter does in no way allow players to bypass the Rule that I posted.
So rather than look at the chat filter as a “get out of jail free” card, try thinking of it more as a way to avoid some of the toxicity out there on the internet.
p.s. What Schindibee said . . … lol
“roosterpit” . . . . ☻
To be honest, the chat is absolutely out of control ragey right now at times… It’s actually concerning, more concerning than last time I said it was concerning. And probably even the time before that.
Seriously why isn’t that a thing yet? It’s insane
