Its actually surprising to me that War Thunder doesn’t just censor certain curse words/racial slurs/slurs in general.
So many big studios and game titles that have game chat will censor those words. Yes, you can get around by using numbers and symbols but majority of the time you just see people type it in plaintext. If those that bypass the filter by using numbers and symbols you can just report them.
why filter bad words at all?

another way of thinking is… you would not go into a shop and yell profanities… it would NEVER cross your mind to do so…
By the time the filter is finished, it would contain roughly 10,000,000 words… and who is going to write that filter out ?
I have used chats in other games… at times the chat is useless because they have filtered out about 500,000 words as it is, and you cannot use normal innocent words to explain or give directions etc etc… and can be worse for games from other nations since there can be words that are used that means something else entirely… so things can get mixed up in translation, and its ends up making chat frustrating as hell and useless…
so, really it would cause more problems…
Game Masters are always responding to reports and acting on them as necessary, and we have Staff from all over the world for the most part, so certain things can be explained to GMs if there is some kind of mistake or something lost in translation
