Why does the Badger have such a low fire rate?

The Badger on the Dev server has a artificially reduced rate of fire from the correct 200 rpm down to the made up number of 100 rpm. This effectively makes the Badger useless as it takes so loong to kill enemies that they can either retreat or just shoot you. A 30mm cannon only firing every 0.5 seconds is just unacceptable at any BR higher than 4.0.

The low rate of fire coupled with the slow turret traverse is so detrimental that the vehicle is not even something you would even want even if you were given 1 ton of gold for.
Some probably noticed that the sights are also wrong. With the no thermal CITV and the too high zoom for the gunner sight.

Gaijin please fix it before the update release

It’s not 200rpm, the GI-30 is not a Bushmaster, iirc it can be 110 for a 3 round burst, it got reduced to 100rpm, because 200 is plain wrong

200rpm is only a figure given when the GI-30 was early in development and is contradicted by more recent sources suggesting 100-110 rpm

Bug Report for it to go to 110rpm

The GI-30 is a EMAK 30 with a different feeding system. The 100-110 rpm is only the fire rate when using the 3 round burst mode. 200 rpm is correct and you can still look at any proper article on it or advertisement and you will see 200 rpm.

Official Denel Press release from 2013 states 100rpm, and makes no statement of 200rpm, which while trying to Market the Weapon, they would’ve stated

Backed up by a further press release in 2015

A Denel Video states 110rpm

and so does a video of the Badger Firing

and in the video the rate of fire slightly exceeds that of what on the dev server (so around 110rpm like stated) while stating “Rapid Fire” likely meaning that this is the highest rate of fire achievable
and at no point in the video does it show a rate of fire faster than such

yet another source states 115rpm, and NOT 200

This Brochure from 2010 states 180-200rpm, but references the EMAK 30, and NOT the GI-30, and even states at the Bottom, which despite your claims, the EMAK 30 is not the GI-30, the EMAK being
image

effectively meaning “Subject to Change”

All sources speak to 100-115rpm, only one (the oldest and with a literal “Subject to change” embedded) speaks of 200rpm, while not even naming GI-30 inside it and naming the EMAK 30, if you have another source that speaks otherwise feel free to share and/or make a bug report.

the EMAK 30 is Belt-Fed while the GI-30 is Box fed, and belt feed will always be much faster than a Box feed, as you can draw rounds through the action, rather than waiting for them to fall into place to enter the breech.

While I’d love for it to be 200rpm, it doesn’t match up with sources, so we’re just getting a slightly sped up and stabilised RARDEN, with the only debate being between 100, 110 or 115rpm, with 100rpm being the most commonly stated figure

The only thing on the Badger I’m extremely suspicious of, is the very low turret traverse rate, with its electric traverse being beaten by the Fox / Scimitars manual traverse, and being slower than MBTs and some WW2 Electric Traverse drives

The problem I have is the rpm, turret traverse speed and sights. I thought that the GI-30 had a 200rpm because it is based on the EMAK 30, which does fire at that speed. I don’t know where Gaijin got those zoom levels for the Badger’s sights and the CITV should have thermal imaging.

This doesn’t make it have the same fire rate

Just look at the KDA of the Gepard/marksman and compare it to the KDE of the Type 89, both being variants of the Oerlikon GDF, with one having a rate of fire of 550rpm and the other 200rpm.
with the KDE having different (option to atleast) feed mechanisms

and slightly worse comparions for the same notion

or the Flak 43 of the Ostwinds compared to the Flak 36 of the Sd.Kfz 6/2, where the 43 is based on the 36 with the 36 having 160rpm and the 43 having 250rpm

or the 40mm Bofors variants
both being variants of eachother,
the L/60 having the rate of fire of 120-140rpm and the L/70 having a rate of fire of 240-330rpm

Thank you for your posts, my own knowledge of the Badger is better thanks to your posts.
