Why does my radar only scan horizontally?

Hi everyone,

As we all know, radars in the game automatically scan the airspace horizontally (left to right / right to left). However, if we want the radar to look up or down, we have to manually adjust the “Radar/IRST tilt control axis”.

My question is: Why do we have to do this manually? Why can’t the radar automatically perform a vertical scan loop just like it does horizontally?

I think the game should offer us two toggleable or separate options/modes for search radars:

Horizontal Scan Mode (Standard): The current system where the radar sweeps left and right.

Vertical Scan Mode: A mode where the radar automatically sweeps up and down in a narrow horizontal frame, instead of staying fixed on a single bar/elevation.

Having a dedicated vertical scan option (outside of the very limited ACM mode) would make it much easier to detect whether an enemy aircraft is approaching from high altitude or diving from below us, without constantly messing with manual tilt axes during intense flight.

What do you guys think? Shouldn’t Gaijin implement a pure vertical search loop option for radars?

always thought the same, dont see why its not in the game already

My dude, you need to be more specific. Not all radars scan vertically.
