Why do you love to play War Thunder

War Thunder is the best simulator on the planet, and has so many vehicles I want to experience.

If it was neither of those, I wouldn’t play.

me like plane

I’m kinda sadomasochistic

Truly academic word to cloak your dreadful affection

Nah, the game design is bad, modes are non-existent and its not fun to play conventionally.

But the grind makes us addictive, models are cool, getting new museum items is cool.
Difference between each rank is big, so, anyone can theoretically find a place to like, but stil…

Gamemodes are empty, faceless and just bad. But I will play this game anyway cuz its one of a kind, idk.

Because me happy when see red text

But honestly as someone who really likes the history of armoured warfare there simply aren’t any other games that give me the same satisfaction of using historically interesting vehicles quite like WT. WoWs has gotten far too arcady and, more importantly, way too fantastical.

Personally, I love making historical missions for my Sqn - (TAW) and then putting them on WT Live for others to enjoy + help others who are learning stuff in the CDK. I get more enjoyment out of that than actually playing the game! Getting very hard though, with the poor state of the CDK :(

Because there are people who make really good historical skins.

I only play with a friend. We larp and share laughs.

For the forums.
Best part of the game is the forums.
The only value the game is that there is no alternative SIMcade… everything is too SIM or too arcade…

The only downside are the gamemodes that are pulled straight from the early 2000’s and clearly constrain the balance and newer vehicles and techonologies.

M109G is in the same setup as Tiger I because it is measured by its ability to kill other tanks instead of its ability to perform its combat task.

Same applies to literally every class that isn’t MBT.

I love loosing every single match against Russia at +10.3 BRs.

It very much gives me the necessary will to continue playing this game.

It’s the cheaper “free” alternative to DCS. I have both, but I prefer WT for how accessible it is.

I don’t mean monetarily cheaper, but in attention span and also “on-the-fly” knowledge about select airframes. I don’t need to memorise startup sequences or require a decent PC to have an enjoyable experience.

War Thunder can literally be played on a potato (for now), controls are simplified so everyone regardless of platform or preferred control setup can play. Yes, War Thunder has its… “problems”, but so do the folks over at ED’s DCS. I just prefer this because:

A. Most of my friends can play this, and not DCS.
B. It’s an easier learning curve than roleplaying as a fighter pilot over in DCS
C. The “Call of Duty” nature of War Thunder vs the “Arma/Squad” nature of DCS is more preferable to those like me with insanely short attention spans (despite my every request for larger maps, lol…)

And also like, I’ve spent way too much money on this game and DCS to quit now xD 'Tis an expensive hobby.

Bombing tanks. Especially ones that send you love letters. Target destroyed x3, x4 or x5 does neuron activation every time. Vietnam era aircraft improves feeling. Phantom, corsair 2, intruder (would like to get this one), skyhawk, tiger 2, aardvark - my favourites.
Also I like sneak:100 ground vehicles like hstv l, xm800t, fox, scimitar, wiesel a2 etc. Those can do some havoc with successful flanking.

Enjoy the gameplay and the combined arms aspect of it which is also its core feature. I seen WOT gameplay and other tank games, its meh and boring…WT just gives out a lot of cinematic moments too which I also enjoy. Hate the bugs and bad choices devs make and ignoring some bugs but really enjoy the rest.

I mainly play it because War Thunder’s decoration system is more flexible than World of Tanks, and most of the vehicles are real. Yeah, it sounds weird, I know.
I occasionally organize events that try to stay as close as possible to real historical battles. For example, vehicle markings have to match the correct size and placement from that time, and there are also restrictions on decorations and camouflage.

During events, I’ll remove certain decorations I usually use, like plants that aren’t native to that area.

Unfortunately, there aren’t many players in Taiwan, and most people seem to prefer more flexible, unrestricted “custom historical battles.” It kind of made me realize that this is how they view history.
The most extreme example was a Discord group hosting a Battle of Kursk event, but then saying that, for balance reasons, they wanted to include the M19A1 as a Lend-Lease vehicle. I honestly don’t get it—you want to play a simulation, but then you add vehicles that couldn’t have existed in that battle.
