Why do you like ground Realistic?

If I wanted to play an arcade game, I’d play Space Invaders.

I got into war thunder in general to play a more immersive/realistic game than what I was used to regarding ww2 stuff. Sadly that atmosphere has been lost over the years and what is left is an arcade+ game even in realistic/sim.

Neither low tier nor high tier is static given current meta. The only way you’re finding battles that are static is around 6.0 where super heavies come in to play and it takes ~3 shots average to destroy a tank.

Ground vehicles offer very dynamic engagements with flanking and I have more of an attachment to tanks than I do planes. Realistic means no assisted aim making concealment something to think about and the general “skill” of placing your shot more of a thing.

cause arcade is horrible

For me, it is due to two factors.

First, based on my experience, arcade ground game modes frequently require fast reflexes; while accurate aim is important, having a fast reflex during brawling gives you a significant edge. I have a slow reflex; therefore, the realistic ground game mode helps to minimize this disadvantage.

Second, realistic ground game mode provides more dynamic gameplay, which means that the functions of the individual vehicle classes are more pronounced. Light tanks have more duties to perform in realistic ground game mode, such as flanking and scouting, resulting in a greater impact on the overall match. In arcade ground game mode, light tanks are really challenging to play (at least for me), as everyone knows where you are, and peaking out to take aim is extremely risky since being lightly armoured translates to low survivability. According to my limited experience in arcade ground game mode, many players simply use Soviet heavy tanks due to their better overall armour. In realistic ground game mode, however, I may use light tanks more effectively to flank highly armoured opponents early on without being spotted.

Arcade is fun, RB gameplay for me tends to cause more frustration. It’s pretty much a proven fact that arcade mains tend to be the happier bunch, I have a lot more fun in arcade than in RB, but definitely not top tier for both game modes. CAS at top tier ruins it for me.

arcade is extremely silly and i cannot take it seriously, that i agree with

You want speed, we don’t. There’s a reason why we see you arcade players as inexperienced which is almost always our expectation.

Sim and RB rely on skill, reading your enemy, learning their flaws, weak points, sound cues, etc. It becomes a lot of 2nd nature aspects over time. So if you throw one of us into GAB we perform, at wiping many out. We don’t blindly charge into a fight.

I stand on my point which you report cause you do not enjoy us stating the facts. So you decide to abuse the report system which will eventually lead to staff needing to manually reading this knowing there’s nothing here that’s inappropriate.

I started playing tanks in arcade, but after a while I switched to realistic, since for me not using markers and having to use your sight (while the game does not make some tanks invisible to you) is what gives it something different to the game.To play War Thunder in the arcade, I prefer to play WOT first.
Although I admit that I’m having a hard time playing realistically as well, as soon as you go past the WW2 tanks the game becomes a completely garbage RNG in which skill doesn’t matter, you just kill when the game wants.

I loved these posts. Arcade bad, realistic good.

Realistic for almost professional people who could be enlisted in any army as a tank operator hahaha.

Arcade for fools who don’t know what good is and weren’t enlightened yet.

One more day the forum.

Yes, you’re right. After about 7 BR, ligth tanks start to become IFV with auto cannons, and unlike in Realistic, they are almost completely useless in Arcade. Not so much because of their armor, but because their guns simply don’t have enough power to handle the vehicles that players prefer in Arcade. Below that, a light tank with a good gun can be absolutely devastating in the hand of a skilled player.

As for the fast reflexes, it’s mostly a factor in close combat. For the most part, many of the same abilities are needed in both modes. However, hiding in Arcade requires significantly different abilities.

I just ignore these holier-than-thou people.

Arcade and Realistic are two completely different modes, and IMHO one is not necessarily better or easier than the other.

I genuinely just want to learn to like playing Realistic, but at the moment I just find the gameplay really slow and generally boring, so therefore the question of what it is that makes some people prefer Realistic.

I never thought about that, but yes, I think you’re right. Pretty much everyone I play with just loves the game and has a ton of fun.

In a thread where things like “older”, “can’t be seen easily” and “slow reflexes” are brought up, you might not want to come to the conclusion that it is right to look down on players that prefer different play styles than you.

Those are exactly the same things that give you an edge in Arcade. You can and should develop skills beyond relying on a green crosshair without having played RB. People who scan enemy tanks for 30 seconds do not win matches in Arcade either.

I really wonder what this pretentious and elitist crap about your “we”, “you” and “one of us” is. There are good and bad players in all game modes. They just emphasize different things. Thanks to popular YouTubers there is plenty of footage that shows that there are enough “of you” who are blind, deaf, don’t know weak spots, can’t use the rangefinder, rush in blindly or sit behind cover or bushes the whole match for 0 - 1 kills.

Oh boy.

I have seen arcrade players doing far better in RB/SB than typical RB/SB player.

AB is easy to start, hard to master.

RB/SB is hard to start, easy to master.

They really don’t (in context when comparing AB to RB/SB).

The only way to get an average 0.3 on everything is to charge blindly into a fight bro

Realistic was the keyword at one point. Arcade is a great blast for five minutes and a nice introduction for the kids but I hated the aim system telling me when to shoot and not to .Its good but its pretty dumb and gets tiring after a short time, same with the air game.

Realistic early on had a WW2 feel ,it had correct markings ,well made vehicles and felt quite real. Depending on how near to the battle zone you went was how much action you saw.
But a level of realism is key to some people ,I guess you could argue that military model making is boring or visiting a tank museum is boring too.

Lucky for you the realism is dying in Warthunder and the GRB is becoming Arcade.SIM is just getting written off the page.

Fast and dumb will be the motto of this game before long.

A majority of you folks do a rather poor job at it by exposing yourself rather than staying within proximity of the hill without over exposure.

To put this simply, I can shoot you, but you cannot shoot me. Seen so many who try to do this, but are just far enough where I can hit you.
