Well this is true there is such a thing as asymmetric balance where yes the airplane should have a counter but the tiger shouldn’t be the counter
That being said whatever counters the airplane has to actually work but that doesn’t mean it stops the yak9 100% of the time
But there is no real counter to aircrafts other than other aircrafts, this is how this game works and always will be in combined battles.
The issue is that for player in a tank there is nothing he can do and such thing shouldn’t happen in PvP game.

CAP aircraft spawns are a good idea but they would still be able to kill light ground targets there’s nothing to do to stop this without fundamentally changing ground RB

The issue is, rock paper scissors tactic doesn’t work in WT as air units can deal with everything while others can’t deal with it.
That is why the best solution is to introduce tank-only mode for tankers so in combined mode only people who want to experience it remain.
From experience, I can say M18 certainly does not have a definite advantage over a Panther in a defensive position, as the M18 is far softer (vulnerable to a OHK just about anywhere, especially with HE) and the Panther can press the attack frontally (whereas the M18 is almost reliant on sideshots). Hard cover is, at most, “sparse” along map edges too. (FWIW, the Panthers’ gun stability is quite good for lacking an outright stab…the M18 just rocks about due to its light weight).
The basic point about anti-flanking is that heavier vehicles will tend to have the advantage in this because the heavies are forcing lightweights into the frontal engagements the lighter vehicles were trying to avoid.
As I said, sounds like a top tier matter…that place always has some issue going on.
My comment wasn’t even just about air versus ground…much of the technology involved with GFs (versus other GFs) brings with it imbalance.
Nowhere is the difference between vehicles in varying upgrade statuses (or even minor BR differences) starker than top tier.
Service record data is not filtered such to see what mode gameplay is done in…it cannot be told (on paper) whether the plays were in RB AFs or RB GFs for instance. I cannot verify what your record is like to the decree you could elaborate.
Without going into too much further detail with these quotes (SIAM/MS are tangents in this thread), I will just say this:
If you are serious in pitching and pursuing the ideas of SIAM and MS, put them out there…start a thread (or probably two separate threads) to discuss the idea(s).
Only then can we (the players) really get a good handle on those things and what the reactions to them are.

More game modes would be good but there’s a lot of people advocating for regular grb to be changed fundamentally away from combined arms which I don’t agree with
So would you rather have these lot of people suffer in combined arms that’s labeled as ground and just thrown into the game?
Edit: Should also add that the suggestion of ADDING a separate mode not just deleting combined has always been suggested.
I don’t agree with providing changes that are ment to benefit “one side” either, that is just stupid and Gaijin have been trying it for past 10 years.
That is why I prefer TO idea, as it just gives a proper mode for people who just want to play ground to be able to.

We wont get new game modes, for the same reason we wont get decompression. It will negatively affect que times. Gaijin thinks if ques aren’t nearly instant people will riot.

Another thing that we can look at is gaijan’s track record when it comes to editing game modes I believe it would be more likely that they change grb rather than make a separate mode like they already have changed grb years ago when they removed specific rule sets like breakthrough
One of the biggest mistakes they made
APHEs can easily overpen M18.
You first need to load HE.
Someone rushing an enemy that’s stationary will surely be in a worse position, as defending player will have much easier shot to your side/track/turret.
Most tiers have their issues.
