Why do CAS players so vocally oppose any suggestions

With the Bosvark, I find unless I heard the plane well ahead of time and pointed my gun to intercept them, I will not be able to catch up with them. Especially if they fly over me and circle around.

Do you have the crew and vehicle maxed?

Because the Bos is one of my favorite SPAAs and I routinely catch planes wheeling overhead. Because of its quick handling elevated gun deck and the amount of HE in a shell only requiring 1-2 hits for a catastrophic kill, coupled with a rate of fire that nearly always provides 2 or more hits, very few planes escape me.

It also depends on how you’re playing. I generally hold fire and anchor up against a building or some other cover that prevents one side of my vehicle from being attacked, and then try to ambush planes coming to bomb or attack other SPAAs.

Another good tactic if you see a plane coming is to fire a string off 45-90 degrees from his heading. Make him think you’re not watching him and when he comes to pounce on what he thinks is an unsuspecting AA gun, you shred him because you’re partially obscured behind a rock that blocks fragments/bullets.

And yeah on ambushing planes. That’s the best bet for the guns to actually be able to hit them before they run away.

nice strawman argument I never said that. And you forget SPAA can only shoot in one direction at a time, so if your are outnumbered by planes another plane will attack you from your dead angle and because every non-rocket SPAA has tracer rounds you are revealing your position to every aircraft in the sky.

Strawman no.2 never hear someone demands SPAA to be untouchable. And why do you think it’s 0 effort to use SPAA? Ever tryed to shoot down plane on BR7.0 with the SPAA Wiesel? Most WW2 SPAAs shoot rounds at ~ 800m/s and even modern SPAAs like the Gepard reaches ~1000 m/s you have to pre-aim pretty far most times and have luck that you predicted the movement right. Otherwise your shots will miss the target, but you revealed your position, what is very risky.
The other option would be to only shoot at very close traget, which would result in a lower impact in the match if not taking the mentioned risk. Moving closer to the capture points is no good idea as well, because of the other tanks who can take you out easily.

SPAA was built to shoot down planes, and it wasn’t good at it. CAP is and always was the better option. It’s been the exact same from WW1 to modern day.

Are we still talking about a videogame? For me I say a PvP Game must be good balanced to ensure a fair competition. And right now CAS has an unfair advantage simply to the fact that most ground vehicles can’t defend themselves against them. And those vehicles who are supposed to protect them end up most times dying invain by trying to do that. The average time I am alive with a SPAA is around 30 seconds (record was only 7), because it draws so much attention the enemy CAS players.

They don’t say it directly cause they know how stupid it sounds. They suggest dumb ideas that would remove any sort of counterplay (including an SPAA exclusive spawn prot buff) that planes could have. If you haven’t seen em, you haven’t been on forums or Steam discussions long enough.

By playing SPAA. M19A1 and M42 are amazing. no1 expect an SPAA to leave spawn, and with their powerful cannons, you can 1-shot planes b4 they even realize they’re being shot at, or when they think they’re outside your range.

Every tried shooting down anything above 6.7? I’ve gone entire games as SPAA and not seen a single plane spawn. Besides, Wiesel isn’t limited to SPAA, there’s a reason it’s as high as it is.

Why would you move to a cap point that has enemies? you can’t stop your teammates from being bombed when you’re next to enemies.

God I’m jealous.

I bring out my cent mk3 and the skies turn into F84 and sabres and me262s on the regular.

Oh and Sk60bs. Sk60 has been the only jet I managed to shoot down with consistency so far, f84s need ambushing while they make a low pass. SAABs have been pure death.

Me 262s are about all I ever seen above 6.7, and ~8.7+ there’s basically nothing aside from rocket rushing helis and Su 25s

For me its at 9.3/9.7 where very little CAS spawn. Each game was like 0 kills to 2 kills or 1 kill when I used the SANTAL…literally had to go to 10.3 to start seeing more CAS to use these SAMs more often XD Currently have a 4.8 K/D with the SANTAL, wasn’t even that hard to use. People just fire the missile just because they have a lock instead of waiting for the right time to fire and call it a bad SAM. Like nah…just use it right…

Every other Br I will find a good amount of CAS spawning to shoot down.

Spawn a tank, die to a dozen glide bombs dropped from the stratosphere. Somehow you played wrong.

Drop a dozen glide bomb every 3 minutes from the airfield, get a few lucky kills from the sheer volume of ordinance you can send while protected by your airfield AAA. Somehow you are a very good player.

this is literally the same as just sitting in your spawn firing off a sturmtiger at the enemy spawn every now and then, like its completely up to chance if you kill someone and with how little explosive mass it has, you need almost a direct hit.

you strike me as one of the people that got really mad at that one clip of a guy tossing a GBU8 from 20km out randomly at the map and it kills someone, like bomb tossing or glide bombs from that far out are complete rng and if they kill their intended target thats means you were sitting still for ages
