Why are the Panthers A, G, and F at 6.0 and not 5.7? All they get is full up tiers against vehicles they can barely do anything too. Honestly 5.0-7.0 is the worst BR range for anything.
Because the Panthers are great at 6.0 and better than all 5.7 mediums in the game.
They have amazing guns, good armor, and decent mobility.
5.7 Germany is the best 5.7 lineup in the game, and 6.0 Germany is the best 6.0 lineup in the game.
A) Problem of uptiers is not unique to the Panthers
B) Majority of the heavily armored tanks in US or Soviet TTs sit at 7.3 and above; with few exceptions like T95. But T95 is simply outplayed by not going into manhood measure contest with it frontally
C) Panthers have gun with enough penetration to handle uptiers well; at least for a medium tank in full uptier.
because they are better than the 5.7 tanks
They are pretty solid for 6.0, they have punchy guns and solid armor with some trolly turrets, play smart and id say they are one of the best 6.0’s imo, i play the T-V quite a bit vs stuff like Tiger 2’s and T34’s
You can even bottom plate a Super pershing at close range.
Because they are fantastic, basically 76 jumbo without the stab.
The one the Panther needs to watch out for is the T26E5 @ 6.7.
I personally wouldn’t use the Panthers these days, with the exception of Panther II at 7.0 (though, I prefer using KT 10.5). It’s not a bad tank at all, I just find it a bit plain jane boring. Not quirkly enough for me.
The turret cheeks is how you end a Panther quickly and easily.
Honestly i have enough enemies mess up shots on my turret so i personally dont panic when they shoot there. I have a pretty good KD in the T-V at 6.0 the only vehicle that scares me is the Jumbo Pershing, now thats a trolly vehicle, with a tiger 2 gun not as scary but with a panther thats the only tank im cautious with, everything else is fair game for the most part.
Gaijin has realised that the best way to fight a Panther is with a tank from the cold war era, i.e. with ammunition (HEAT-FS) that was developed a few years after the world war. And to increase the chance that he would have to fight against just such opponents, the Panther BRs were increased.
I don’t think most people here have realised it yet, but War Thunder is a military science fiction game and the main protagonist is a Russian time machine.
Not rly they have much better mobility and more pen
What, the panther? The jumbo has much better agility, the panther has better hull armour but the turrets alot easier to pen. I would say they are equals rather than either one being better because the short stab is just fantastic. I play both but i would take the jumbo over the panther just because of the stab.
Is this some attempt to say germany suffers?
Panther can UFP jumbo at most ranges.
Not sure I agree about the armor. Panther is more sloped AT THE FRONT but Jumbo is thicker.
And the side armor is not even close - Jumbo by a mile.
Nope. There are also German vehicles from the cold war merged into WWII BRs. And that is anyway wierd!
But that is a Panther thread I guess.
it’s not, they are balanced at the BR they’re at like most of these cold war vehicles you refer to.
-
M44 - 4.0
-
M109G - 6.0 (HE-VT)
-
Jagdpanzer Kanone (JgPz 4-5) - 6.3 (HESH and HEATFS)
-
leKpzM41 - 6.7 (APDS and HEATFS)
-
Schützenpanzer (lang) HS 30 12-3 LGS - 6.7 (HESH and HEATFS)
-
PsH 2000 - 7.7 (HE-VT)
7.7 is the last BR with a German WWII vehicle.
The only vehicle I can more or less accept is the M44 because it’s used gun and ammo from WWII.
All other vehicles are far too modern overall, and there can be no question of balance in terms of fairness.
And it doesn’t matter which nation these kind vehicles appear in. I call it BS instead of balance.
what about them
there can be, because they often have severe downsides and when compared directly to the same BR vehicles, often are perfectly fine. People just don’t like when their armor is invalidated. The only one I think is problematic at the moment is the pzh 2000
You only started three months before me, do you remember? Back then, there were only vehicles from the same period. They were neatly sorted according to when they were introduced and their BR. As far as I remember, the first exception to this rule was the JgPz 4-5.
And how was the game advertised back then, and basically still is? Whether directly by Gaijin or in gaming magazines, it was always advertised as being able to re-enact the battles of the Second World War or the Korean War with authentic vehicles. At least that’s how it was in the German-language media. How was it for you?
Right, who likes that? But it didn’t need a HEATFS to kill a Panther or a Milan ATGM to kill a Tiger II, there are dozens of wwII vehicles who are able to do so, tanks and tank destroyers in almost every other country.
yeah that isn’t true though. I remember ru251 being 6.7 for example for a long time. Kpz m41 was an even lower BR than it is now. Most vehicles like this went up in BR since.
But introduction date isn’t directly correlated with performance like this. It makes no sense to move a vehicle up that is otherwise balanced at a BR just because its newer.
I didn’t really see ads for the game, I first saw it through a youtuber I watched playing it. I will say that he was a sim enjoyer so my early exposure was definitely more of a authentic simulator type game in that regard.
Sure, but they’re just lesser, worse vehicles. Balance is when the vehicles at the same BR are all about as good as each other when you consider the differences between them and their pros and cons. Something like the Kpz M41 isn’t better than the Tiger 2 in this game just because it can penetrate the Tiger 2 wherever. In reality the Tiger 2 is actually overall arguably more powerful on average in war thunder.
I sympathize heavily with the wish for the game to be more authentic and I still wish for that in some ways, but the BRs can’t be used as a method for this.
Well this topic went off the rails.
Here’s a random picture of my Panther donker
