Why are all the PLA Chinese helicopter's RWR a copypasted AH-1F RWR?

This is more of a blanket observation with playing PLA Chinese helis, but currently Chinese helicopter RWR mostly gives generic AI (air intercept) and ? for the threat identification

The helicopters with said RWRs in question (They ALL have the same RWR):

  • Z-9W
  • Z-9WA
  • Z-19
  • Z-19E
  • Z-10
  • Z-10A
  • Z-10ME

That’s SEVEN helicopters in the Chinese tree that don’t have any capability to identify threats, WTF Gaijin, and there’s only TEN helicopters in the tree that have RWR, the other three being copypastes from other trees!

I find it a bit hard to believe that these helicopters with RWR can’t even identify something like a Roland or F-16, considering they are mostly made past 2000, and PLA aircraft made around the same era in the game can identify radar signals just fine.

I understand if the specifications of these RWRs is classified but isn’t that a bit much not being able to identify Cold War radars??

And finally, as per the title: here is proof that the generic PLA RWR is a COPYPASTE from the AH-1F - a 9.7 vehicle:

To prove my point, this was how it looked before the Leviathans patch:

Notice how the “Threat types on scope”, and “Launch detection” was simultaneously updated with +1 as of this major patch

If possible, I’d like an explanation as to why the RWR is a copypaste and why it stayed for multiple major patches?

just guessing as i am not that well versed in chinese tech, but is it possbile that theres simply not enough info about chinese RWR systems?

It was also an inherent issue with Italian helicopters for awhile: The A-129 series had copypaste AN/APR-39 RWRs until they tweaked the stats to match the given radar detection band.

While I understand that not much info is available for PLA Chinese avionics is available, I’m not sure why Gaijin chooses to pick a 1970s RWR system to emulate a system that we know was developed indigenously in the 00s

At least with the documents highlighting the blanket requirements of RWR for Chinese, helis, it states:

The batch number, type, working status, priority, orientation, repetition frequency, pulse width, amplitude and other parameters of the threat source can be provided

I feel like this is evidence pointing that it would be able to identify individual AAA and AI radars, rather than a generic AI or ? on the RWR scope.

seems so.

also, with Z-10ME being export variant, shouldnt there be some more detailed information about its avionics, seeing as it is, ya know, export variant?

I haven’t been able to find any brochures or catalogs floating around unfortunately. Hopefully someone on the forums would be able to source it better than I can.

the list of previously suggested ideas for chinese helicopters doesnt show separate entry for Z-10ME, and base Z-10 was apparently suggested on the old forum.

assuming you havent tried that already, maybe try to dig up the original suggestion and contact the creator of said suggestion? At the very least, there could be source for base Z-10, and that could be used for Z-10ME.

I’ve already accessed all sources in said suggestion thread (Z-10 (2018), Z-10ME), and haven’t come across anything substantial. Sleuthing on the Chinese side of things seemed to be a dead end as well.

I’ll look into the old forum though.

A lot of stuff in the game use copy and paste base stats, From missiles to rwr and radars they all share common base stats with slight tweaking here and there, its not very realistic but i assume they do it to save time.
