Which battle-rating has the most "player traffic"?

Hi guys,
I haven’t played this game for 7 years, so it’s great to be back. But a lot has changed.

Now, I play with some friends, but we are not sure what BR for planes we should use to increase our odds of getting a full game with some people and action in it. (We play on EU servers.)

And we don’t have much time each day to play together, so we would like to focus on some BR that has “Player Trafic”.

I’m just looking for advice, thanks.

You might find an answer to your question in this overview (based on thunderskill):

Select “battles”, “aviation or ground” and your preferred game mode (AB, RB, SB) and you see the total number of battles by nations shown for BR brackets (if you hover above them with your mouse) - but you won’t see the chosen servers.

Traffic also depends on the time you are playing…

lets see the low Br ones cause they are the most fun cause you don’t deal with Missiles and all the other stuff.

For this, I recommend BRs that avoid the Ju-288 spam. It can be… very frustrating to have matches that are 6v6 and it’s like, 4 fighters vs 2 and 4 ju-288s.

Is there any logic as to how BR brackets work? For example, are they always 5.7-6.7 Battlerating (As that makes planes at 6.7 best to play, as you will always face opponents below you.

So I don’t get it. Is there like 6.0 → 7.0 BR bracket ever?

At most 4 players can be top BR.

https://wiki.warthunder.com/Matchmaker#General_rules_of_the_matchmaking_based_on_BR

General rules of the matchmaking based on BR

The matchmaker selects the game session for the player in which the spread of the opponent’s vehicle BR will not exceed +/- 1.0 BR from the player’s vehicle. This means that the player will not meet a vehicle which exceeds the BR of his key vehicle (the one on which the matchmaker bases its search for a game session) in battle by more than 1 point of the BR.

Additional rules

  • By searching for the team within the maximum spread (+/- 1.0 BR) the number of players in the vehicles with the highest BR in each team will not exceed 4 players.
  • In aircraft RB there is a limit of 4 bombers from the total number of the team.

These are all the rules that the matchmaker uses in random battles. There are no exceptions such as matching by player performance statistics at all.

But when I try to go into a SIM battle with a plane of BR 7.0 I only see lobbies with BR bracket of 7.0-8.0, meaning a plane with 7.0 BR will always be at the bottom of the line plane. (For example)

Ah, for that you should consult this table:

https://warthunder.highwaymen.space/SimCal

Essentially, every ~2 days the BR brackets rotate.

On one day, you’re top dog with your 4.7 plane, another day you’re bottom tier.

You can try and focus on playing during days where your plane performs best.

Also… these forums seriously need better contrast for subforums as I genuinely did not see…

Did not realize you were asking about sim until you mentioned.

Aha, ok, that makes sense; thanks so much for the replay. I was really confused with that BR stuff.

Imho there are a lot of highly experienced Air SB pilots which are way more qualified to explain this in detail.

From my pov: Yes. The BR brackets in Air SB follow another logic than Air AB and Air RB. I played my last FR/Sim battle > 10 years ago in IL-2…

I found this in the forum (January 2024):

You might wait for a reply by a Sim Vet or try to use the search function.

Sim brackets change every 48 hours. Below you can see the latest Sim brackets and how they change every other day. So yes there is a 1 bracket that is 6.0-7.0.

Lower BRs can be hit and miss for how popular they are. I cant speak with a vast amount experience with those brackets however, as I favour the higher tiers.

With that mind, those above 10.0 are the most popular I find. Especially around 11.3/11.7. Those matches are always reasonably full.
